Please join Mayor Armand Hurford and Councillor Lauren Greenlaw for a community conversation focused on the Community Climate Action Plan (CCAP) Update. This is your chance to share ideas on how we can shape a CCAP that fosters sustainable living, working, and recreation in Squamish.

When: Wednesday, November 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Where: Council Chambers, Municipal Hall, 37955 Second Avenue

Let’s work together to create a livable, resilient, inclusive, and low-carbon Squamish. The District of Squamish also invites you to complete a brief 5–10 minute survey to share your feedback and ideas for climate action. As a thank you, you’ll have a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to a local business when you enter your email in the survey.

RSVP is encouraged to communications@squamish.ca and all are welcome!

It was wonderful to see the community come together at our Open House to discuss Budget 2025!

We greatly appreciate your feedback and engagement in the draft Financial Plan. Your input is invaluable as we compile community priorities in our “What We Heard” report, which will be presented to Council on November 26.

Please continue sharing your thoughts on our Let’s Talk page, explore the Budget Book to review proposed items, or reach out to us directly at budgetfeedback@squamish.ca.

The budget boards will remain on display in the Brennan Park Recreation Centre lobby through next week. Thank you for helping to shape our community’s future!

COMMUNITY CLIMATE ACTION PLAN SURVEY

The Community Climate Action Plan (CCAP) is a Plan to reduce Squamish’s emissions by 45% by 2030.

As we are in process of updating this Plan, we need your input as we continue to plan for a resilient, healthy, low carbon future for Squamish and to do our part globally.

We invite the community to complete a 5–10 minute survey to share feedback and ideas for climate action. Help us create a plan that enhances how we live, work, and play in Squamish in a sustainable way.

Enter your email in the survey for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate to a local business.

BC TRANSIT WEBSITE REDESIGN SURVEY

BC Transit is redesigning its website and is seeking public feedback.

This is an opportunity for people to share their feedback on how they use the website, what works well and what does not and include suggestions on how to improve BCTransit.com. Community and stakeholder feedback is essential to BC Transit’s decision-making process. This input will help site designers simplify and modernize BC Transit’s main source of public transit information.

To participate in this short survey, please visit engage.bctransit.com. The survey will remain open until November 27, 2024.

URBAN TREE CANOPY STUDY

OurSquamish and the District of Squamish are assessing the urban tree canopy in Downtown Squamish to support a healthy community. This project is an initial step toward the District's larger Urban Forest Management Strategy, set for 2026.

The goal of this project is to assess current tree coverage Downtown and identify areas for improvement. The findings will shape future policies for protecting and expanding the tree canopy.

Take the survey and tell us what matters most to you about trees in our community. Deadline to complete the survey is November 20.

NOTICE OF TRAFFIC AND NOISE IMPACTS

SPIT ROAD TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE

The Squamish River Watershed Society has provided an update on The Squamish Training Berm, also known as Spit Road. As of Saturday morning, access will be partially reopened, with the yellow gate at Government Road allowing vehicle and pedestrian traffic on to the top of the dike.

  • The project team have advised that the road will still remain closed to vehicle traffic over the weekend to give the new road base time to settle. It is currently too ‘spongy’ as a result of the heavy rain we’ve experienced this week.
  • Pedestrians and cyclists are welcome to travel along the road.
  • The road conditions will be reassessed on Monday regarding opening it to vehicle traffic.

Thank you for your patience. Note also that minor work will continue over the next week. Please stick to the trails and roads to protect newly planted areas and give them chance to take root. Thank you for your cooperation and care for this beautiful space!
