Carbon market:
agriculture pays the price for a tool that misses its target!

Let's Mobilize Now!

Dear farmers,

In April, amid a challenging economic climate and a business environment that has been underperforming for over a year, the Bord of Directors of the Fédération de l’UPA de la Montérégie gave a clear mandate to our organization: urgently address the problems posed by the current carbon market system for the agricultural sector. Consequently, on May 1st, during a press conference held in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu attended by nearly a hundred agricultural producers, the Federation sent a clear message to the Quebec government: the current form of the carbon market misses its target and harms the agricultural sector and the government must act now and immediately reform the system.

This media operation marks the official launch of a significant communication campaign and a call for your—to expose the injustices of the current system and demand real, concrete changes. The costs imposed on agriculture by carbon pricing have become untenable and do not reflect the efforts already made by our sector to reduce its environmental footprint.

Why Mobilize?
To resolve this issue once and for all, our voices must be heard. There is strength in numbers—and that strength will make the difference.

To understand the issue and take action
To equip and keep you informed throughout this mobilization, we have launched a dedicated webpage. There, you will find the Federation's demands, clear information to help you understand the impacts of the carbon market on the agricultural sector, and mobilization tools you can use to amplify and share our message.
