JUNE IS PRIDE MONTH!

A Progressive Pride Flag was raised over Municipal Hall on Friday, May 30, to honour and celebrate our 2SLGBTQIA+ community, individuals and allies.

The District of Squamish embraces all members of our community regardless of gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

The community is invited to attend the Squamish Pride Parade on
Sunday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Province Prioritizes Housing in Squamish

The District of Squamish was added to the Province of British Columbia’s fourth group of priority communities for its housing targets program. Like many other B.C. communities, Squamish has experienced accelerated growth over the past five years.

Seasonal Transit Service Change

BC Transit and the District of Squamish are announcing a seasonal service change, effective June 9. This service change will see the seasonal return of Route 5 South Park which provides service to Darrell Bay, the Sea to Sky Gondola, Stawamus Chief Provincial Park and Sp’akw’us Feather Park and connects passengers with downtown Squamish.

Free service will be offered on all routes every Saturday, Sunday and statutory holiday, starting June 9 until September 1, 2025. For more information visit: bctransit.com/squamish

Access Property Tax and Utilities Online

Have you received your Tax and Utilities notice yet? Property owners are encouraged to create a MyCity account to access their Property Tax and Utility notices online.

Creating a MyCity account ensures you have timely access to your notices, even if postal service is interrupted.

Squamish Pride Parade

The Squamish Pride Parade is happening on Sunday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Junction Park in Downtown Squamish. The Parade begins at Cleveland Avenue and Winnipeg Street at 12 p.m.

Special event road closure and impacts:

  • Between 8 am and 1 pm, Cleveland Avenue will be closed from Winnipeg to Main Streets. No Parking signs will be in effect during this time.
  • Between 11 am and 1 pm, all Downtown transit routes will detour via Loggers Lane. The transit stop at Junction Park on Cleveland Avenue south of Victoria Street will be closed during this time.
  • An accessible drop-off zone will be available on Second Avenue in front of Stan Clarke Park

A traffic management plan will ensure access for emergency vehicles. Residents are encouraged to walk, take transit, or use the complimentary bike valet service at Stan Clarke Park.

Re-Use-It Fair 2025

The Re-Use-It Fair is an excellent opportunity to bring unwanted usable items or take away used treasures from someone else — for FREE! You don’t have to bring something to the Re-Use-It Fair to participate.

When: Saturday, June 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Squamish GoByBike Week

As part of GoByBike Week, we're hosting a Bike Maintenance Basics Workshop on Wednesday, June 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at DOX Squamish, located at 40446 Government Road.

This event is free to attend, but registration is required. All tools and supplies will be provided, just bring your bike. Everyone is welcome!

Wildlife News Bulletin

Residents are being asked to take precautions when using the Estuary Trail (also known as Swan Trail) after the Conservation Officer Service (COS) received a report of a trail runner being bluff charged by two black bears on Wednesday, May 28. The runner was not injured.

The COS is advising the public to take precautions in case of wildlife encounters, including making noise to avoid surprising bears and ensuring pets are leashed.

Conservation Officers are monitoring bear activity in the area and will respond as necessary to ensure public safety. Report wildlife conflicts to the Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) hotline at 1-877-952-7277.

Join this Year's Shoreline Clean Up

Celebrate World Oceans Day together by caring for our local shorelines. Volunteers will be removing garbage and invasive species from the trails and parking lot bordering the Mamquam Blind Channel in Squamish. Gloves, bags, and tools will be provided. There will also be some light snacks and coffee. Please wear closed-toe shoes and dress for the weather - the event will happen rain or shine!

Co-hosted by the Átl'ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound Marine Stewardship Initiative, Squamish River Watershed Society, and Sea to Sky Invasive Species Council.

When: Sunday June 8, from 9 to 11 a.m.
Where: Oceanfront (gravel parking lot), Squamish.

The reopening of the steam room remains on schedule for late June.


Field Allocation

Field allocation requests for September 1 to February 28, 2026 are now being accepted.

Request Deadline: Friday, June 27, 2025.
Field Closures: All fields except the Artificial Turf Field: December 15 to January 15 (weather dependent)
