Animal services

King Township introduces new pet licensing system

Pet owners: changes to pet licensing are coming to King Township. Effective, January 2, 2025, residents can look forward to more efficient pet licensing with an enhanced Animal Services Agreement with the City of Vaughan.

Key Highlights:

  • New Online System: Register or renew your pet licenses easily at king.ca/pets.
  • Lifetime Tags: All pets will receive new lifetime tags starting February 2025. (Annual renewals will be based on the issuance anniversary date rather than the calendar year.)
  • Updated Fees: Dog licenses remain $25, cat licenses are now $25, seniors pay $12.50, and service animal licenses are free.
  • New Fee: $55 for Biting or Menacing Dog Licenses.

Existing registered pet owners are being sent an email from King Township with more information. Going forward, pet owners will be notified via mail from the City of Vaughan at renewal time through a new automatic notification.

In King, dogs and cats must wear a licence (numbered tag) on their collar at all times. Dog and cat licences expire annually and must be renewed prior to the anniversary date of purchase to ensure the pet’s information is kept up to date.

Licensing pets not only helps easily identify and safely reunite lost pets with their owners but also helps supplement and manage the costs of sheltering animals.

Snow removal

Snow removal service levels

Snowplowing occurs in priority sequence – with major roads first, followed by neighbourhood roads, and cul-de-sacs last – to ensure that fire and emergency services are able to drive on the roads and respond to calls. Road clearing is typically completed within a 12-hour period after the snowfall is complete but can take longer during a Significant Weather Event. For more information, visit king.ca/snowremoval.

Reflections of Ourselves

Reflections of Ourselves exhibit opens January 11

You’re invited to an opening reception for Reflections of Ourselves, a collaborative art project that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Canadians and features the work of 115 artists, at the King Heritage and Cultural Centre.

Curated by artist Tracey Lawko, Reflections of Ourselves is a collaborative art project that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Canadians.

Through the metaphor of a tree, the exhibition presents stories and traditions by members of cultural groups residing across Canada and suggests that the differences among us are like the variations in individual leaves on a tree. To-date 115 Indigenous, settler and immigrant Canadians from coast to coast have handcrafted a leaf in honour of their heritage, primarily in textile.

On display from January 11 to March 1, 2025 - Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., included with regular admission.

Opening Reception

Date: Saturday, Jan. 11

Time: 1-3 p.m. (remarks at 1:15 pm)

Location: King Heritage & Cultural Centre, east gallery
