PKD Clinic Model Opens in Surrey
A new clinical model of care for patients with polycystic kidney disease (PKD) was formally launched in Surrey this May – the first of its kind in BC. PKD is a genetic disorder that causes cysts to form in the kidneys, eventually leading to kidney failure.
Building on the provincial Kidney Care Clinic model, the Surrey PKD Clinic uses a team-based approach, bringing together nephrologists, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and allied health professionals. The team’s work is guided by evidence-informed clinical pathways and treatment algorithms.
