Safety capsule: NOTAMs - forest fires

A reminder to all about flying restrictions in wildfire areas.

Restrictions on the use of aircraft during wildfires

CAR 601.15 It is prohibited to operate an aircraft when:

  • at an altitude of less than 3,000 feet AGL above a forest fire zone or the area five nautical miles or less from the forest fire zone;
  • in any airspace specified in a NOTAM issued under 601.16.

SOPFEU reports to us that recently, they saw a seaplane pass close to the ground around the burnt wood in the Matchi Manitou sector, right around the helicopters which go up and down on the ground. They advise us that they take note of the aircraft registrations and that they will file a complaint with TC. They've been patient, but now they can't wait for something to happen.

The attached image shows the areas currently affected in the northwest of the province by SOPFEU NOTAMs. We find a similar situation in the east, where the entire north of Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean up to Sept-Îles via Manic3 is carpeted with fires. Keep your distance.

Gatineau Airport (CYND): ground frequency in effect

It is announced in the latest edition of the CFS (June 15) that the use of a ground frequency (122.6 MHz) is now mandatory at the Gatineau airport.

Welcome to a new partner: VL3 Canada

Aviateurs.Québec is happy to welcome a new partner : VL3 Canada. and we thank them for their support.

VL3 Canada is the exclusive Canadian distributor of high-end aircraft from JMB Aircraft, including the fabulous VL3! I have been in the aviation business for almost thirty years and I assure you that I have never been so impressed by the exceptional quality of construction of the planes of this company. I must say that we were particularly charmed by the unequaled performance of the VL3, but also by the values conveyed by the JMB Aircraft company.

We are therefore very proud to represent these little jewels of aviation that are the VL3 and Evolution models, but also to work in close collaboration with the company JMB Aircraft and its founders, the Guisset brothers who own more than twenty years of experience in the aviation field.

We are very happy to be "partners" of this great family of international renown!

Good navigation!

President, VL3 Canada
