IRES graduate student Manvi Bhalla received the Youth Eco Hero of the Year Award from the Planet in Focus Environmental Film Festival in recognition of her numerous leadership roles in the sector. These roles include being featured in diverse media engagements and co-founding the national non-profits Shake Up The Establishment and missINFORMED. She works to ensure intersectional and decolonized approaches are always centred within the health research space, and is lauded for raising awareness through artistic expression. Congratulations, Manvi!

The 7th Annual Graduate Conference in Religion and Ecology has opened its Call for Papers and Creative/Artistic Submissions. The conference will be held on March 3, 2023.

The theme of this year’s conference, “Earth’s Lamentation: Ecological Grief and the Paradox of Hope,” invites participants to consider the necessity of lamentation and the complexity of hope in the face of climate change.

Funded PhD in Geography and Research Assistant Positions | Clark University

The Graduate School of Geography at Clark University invites applications to its PhD program and offers two Research Assistant (RA) positions for a NASA-funded project on “Irrigation as climate change adaptation in the Cerrado biome of Brazil”, starting in August 2023. PhD Position at the Water Resilience Lab | Brock University

Dr. Ryan Plummer and Dr. Julia Baird are recruiting a doctoral student for a September 2023 start. This is a fully-funded position for the first two years, with a basic Brock funding package thereafter (and the student will be actively supported in applying for scholarships). The position will be situated within the Partnership for Freshwater Resilience between the ESRC and WWF-Canada and the project will be applied in nature.
