Pearson Students Support A Community Celebration of Ukrainian Arts & Culture 

Together with Victoria's Ukrainian Cultural Centre, we proudly co-hosted the first-ever "Celebration of Ukrainian Arts & Culture," which treated guests to an afternoon of dance, music and arts to celebrate the passion and resilience of Ukrainian culture. Alumnus Lands Year-long Watson Fellowship

Newly named Thomas J. Watson Fellow Charles-Olivier LĂŠvesque (YR43/2018, Canada-QC) will travel through Europe and Asia after graduating from the College of the Atlantic to explore how collaborative experiments within communities can address social and environmental issues on both regional and global scales. Sharing International Stories of Resilience

Alumna Marien Emilia LĂłpez-Medina (YR 44/2019, Nicaragua), a David UWC Scholar and journalism major at the University of Oklahoma (OU), recently shared stories of resilience in the OU Daily online news. Marien was awarded the 2022-23 Gary McKinney Memorial Scholarship for significant community impact. Read more

Our ambition is to transform the dimly lit and technologically limited LLT into a Social Innovation Lab -- a purpose-built, technologically advanced physical setting to inspire student creativity and collaboration as they explore current social, environmental, and political challenges. The lab will enable the launch of new curricula that teach methodologies for design thinking, complex systems, entrepreneurship, and project-based learning. Read More

IN MEMORIAM

In Memoriam: His Legacy Will Live On Forever

We were deeply saddened to hear about the passing of our alumnus, Pierre Maurice Lavallée (YR 6/1981, Canada-QC). Since his graduation, Pierre kept his close connection to Pearson. His volunteer work as a community member of the Board of Director’s Investment Committee for Pearson College UWC was keenly appreciated by both College leadership and his fellow Board members. Second-year Students Snap Up Awards!

Raghvendra (YR 48/2023, India) was honoured by the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) at the 2023 Children's Champion Awards, which highlighted work with children in his community, including a collaboration with his classmates to start "The Hundred Women Project." ⁠

Hamzah (YR 48/2023, Iraq) was one of 46 UWC students to be honoured with a grant as part of "Go Make A Difference" which recognizes innovative and impactful community service projects. Hamzah will use his funds towards building a study hall in his village in Babylon, Governorate, Iraq. ⁠

Earth Day Feature: Tofino Beach Clean Up

During Project Week, over a dozen of our students travelled to Tofino, where they helped out the local community food initiative by mucking stalls to create layers of compost for a school community garden.
