Scoop the Poop, Adventure Responsibly!

The Town would like to remind everyone to clean up after your pet and to properly dispose of pet waste in the garbage.

When left unchecked, pet waste can leave a messy situation for everyone. It is important when heading outside for a walk with your furry friend, to be prepared, leash up, and pick up after your pet. This will not only limit the environmental impact but will also ensure the bottom of your shoes remains clean!

In addition, dogs are required to be on leash in all public areas including parks, trails and greenspaces. This will help ensure a safe trip for you, your neighbours, your dog, and the environment.

Dogs are great companions to have during a hike or stroll in the community but understanding their impacts to the natural environment will help ensure everyone can have an enjoyable outdoor experience.

Official Plan Review Update

The Official Plan Review phase one public survey is now complete and the Town would like to thank the community for its outstanding response. In total, 595 submissions were received and the results of the survey will be used to help further guide the Official Plan Review process.

Additional opportunities for feedback will be available this summer through Public Information Sessions and Public Meetings. Town Staff will also be attending events in the community to hear directly from residents, including the Thornbury Farmer's Market on May 29, 2022.

For more information on the Official Plan Review, residents are invited to visit the project webpage.

Emergency Preparedness Week

In recognition of Emergency Preparedness Week, happening from May 1 - 7, 2022, and this year's theme of "Be Ready for Everything," the Town's Fire Services would like to encourage residents to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies.

By taking a few simple steps, residents can become better prepared to face a range of emergencies – anytime, anywhere. It is important to:

  • Know the risks – Although the consequences of disasters can be similar, knowing the risks specific to our community and our region can help you better prepare.
  • Make a plan – It will help you and your family know what to do
  • Get an emergency kit – During an emergency, we will all need some basic supplies. We may need to get by without power or tap water. Be prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours in an emergency.

For more information on Emergency Preparedness Week and safety tips, please contact the Town's Fire Services.
