IT Helpdesk Fall Start-up

In person, walk-up support from the UBCO IT Service Centre in ADM 024 will be OPEN with extended hours from August 25 - September 12.

Walk-Up Support: 8 am to 4 pm (closed 12-1pm).
Phone Support: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm (807-9000)

Use the LIVE IT WALK-UP SUPPORT webcam to see if the window is open and busy. Submit a ticket or use the knowledge base in the Self-Service Portal for IT & Workday support anytime.

UBCO IT Chatbot Available

Need quick tech help? The UBCO IT Chatbot is LIVE on the UBC IT Okanagan website and is available 24/7 to assist with common questions and support requests. Our Bot does NOT use Generative AI and is able to provide support based on whether you're staff, faculty or a student. Test it out with your top IT support questions to help us make it better to help you better!

Google Street View Updates

 

Did you know Google Streetview photos of UBCO haven’t been updated since 2012? UBCO Studios is working with Campus Planning to capture new exterior images August 21-22. If you see the UBC IT golf cart with a camera on top give a wave (don't worry, faces and license plates will be blurred). Stay tuned for the updated images! 

 

Studios Equipment Loans

UBC Okanagan Studios offers video and sound equipment to students, staff and faculty at no cost. Regular hours resume as of September 2, 2025 with equipment check-out available Tuesday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM or by appointment. LEARN MORE...

MS Bookings Launched

Microsoft Bookings will be available to the UBC community on August 18, starting with Personal Bookings pages. Shared Bookings pages will follow later this year once automation and further testing is complete. Get started with this guide on how to create a new meeting type (login with your CWL in the Self-Service Portal first).

Pre-Fall Tech Check

Software: Can you access all your necessary software? If updates are needed, request a consultation with IT to ensure compliance with UBC policies.

ALT-2040 Protostar Launch

UBCO’s ALT-2040 Fund invites proposals that enhance student learning through innovative courses, resources, and experiences. FASmail & Student Hires 

When employed, students gain access to UBC’s Faculty & Staff email - FASmail (first.last@ubc.ca or cwl@mail.ubc.ca). To comply with licensing requirements, they automatically lose access 7-days after their appointment ends. If required, a "grace period" can be given prior to the end of their appointment in the Initiate Termination Workday business process (refer to the "Edit Additional Data" section). LEARN MORE...

CTL AI Sandbox Opens

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is excited to announce the launch of a new Generative AI Sandbox and Collaboration Space, located in ADM 103.   • Generative AI in Teaching and Learning Series

    • This year, AI has emerged as a significant tool in education, and faculty at UBC are grappling with its integration in the classroom. The UBC Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT) has introduced a new educational series, GenAI in Teaching and Learning. This series aims to help educators transition from concerns to understanding to seeing the opportunities generative AI presents.This series offers:

      • Weekly GenAI Support Clinics: One-hour drop-in clinics on teaching and learning topics to do with the use of tools such as ChatGPT, Stability AI, Google Bard and others, every Wednesday.
      • Integrating GenAI in Education at UBC 30+30 Workshops: 30-minute interactive presentations followed by 30-minutes of discussion designed to assist faculty and staff in navigating this new landscape.
