Portraits of aviators from Quebec
* Portrait of the next generation *
Frédérique Legault
19 years old, Private Pilot License

Application submitted by Caroline Farly, from Aéro Loisirs

In order to introduce you to a wider range of aviators here, we appealed to everyone last September for your nominations. Caroline Farly, owner of Aéro Loisirs at La Macaza has submitted the candidacy of Frédérique Legault, whom we present to you in the very first Portrait de la Relève.

Caroline contacted us to offer us a portrait of an impressive young pilot who began her training at 15, obtained her recreational pilot license at 16 and her private pilot license at 19. `` Frédérique is a captivating and inspiring succession! ''

A seaplane discovered almost 100 years after sinking in a lake on the North Shore.

This seaplane found at the bottom of a lake on the North Shore, a Curtiss HS-2L, is the same model as La Vigilance registered G-CAAC which inaugurated commercial air service on June 9, 1919 by completing a trip from Halifax to the Lac-à-la-Tortue. The Vigilance was piloted by Stuart Graham. G-CAAC also suffered a fate similar to that found on the Côte-Nord. La Vigilance sank to the bottom of a lake in Ontario on September 2, 1922. A replica of G-CAAC was built and is now part of the collection of the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.

To find out more about this historical fact, the weekly L'Hebdo du Saint-Maurice published a special issue in June 2019 that you can consult HERE .
