Reminder: Change in Academic Dates

The abrupt decision to hold a national day of mourning of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday September 19 necessitated a quick solution to deal with the academic implications of the closure. The following changes to the Fall 2022 Academic Important Dates have been approved and are now reflected in the academic calendar:

- The Fall 2022 term course schedule now ends on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, which will incorporate the Friday course schedule and all classroom bookings will reflect this revision. Monday, Dec. 5 will be scheduled as normal.

- The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women will be observed between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Dec. 6, 2022. Classes and exams are not scheduled during this time.

- The December final exam period will begin on Dec. 8, 2022 and run until Dec. 21, 2022.

3M National Student Fellowship

Do you know an undergraduate student who demonstrates qualities of outstanding leadership and innovation, and who embraces their educational experience at UVic and beyond? If so, please consider nominating this student for the 3M National Student Fellowship.

We have instituted an internal process to assist candidates with their submission. We invite potential students and their faculty nominators to attend our upcoming two workshops.

Explore the 2022 Valerie Kuehne Undergraduate Research Award Posters

This recently launched award, named after previous Provost Dr. Valerie Kuehne, provides an opportunity for first year students to gain research-enriched and applied experiences in their discipline or field of study. Students gain first-hand experience in planning and undertaking research or creative works. This year, we had 44 student scholars participate. We have asked each research scholar to answer the question: “What was the most memorable part of your internship experience?” You will be able to see each students’ answer, along with their biography and poster on our Learn Anywhere webpage.
