Official Plan Phase 2 Project Update

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents that the Recommendation Papers for Phase 2 of the Official Plan Review have been posted to the project webpage. The Recommendation Papers summarize the proposed changes to the Official Plan by theme.

In addition, the Statutory Public Meeting and Statutory Open House have been scheduled for this Fall to provide public engagement and comment opportunities.

  • Open House: Monday, September 23, 2024
  • Public Meeting: Tuesday, October 1, 2024

The complete draft of the Official Plan with proposed changes will be shared to the project webpage in early September to allow public review before these meetings.

Beaver Valley Fall Fair Arrives This Weekend

The 152nd Beaver Valley Fall Fair takes place Friday, September 6 and Saturday, September 7 at the Beaver Valley Community Centre in Thornbury.

The fairgrounds open at 6 p.m. on Friday with the official opening of the Fall Fair by the 2024 Fall Fair President and Mayor Andrea Matrosovs. At 7 p.m. the Classic Championship Wrestling Show takes place.

Saturday features live music, a K9 show, a petting zoo, children's activities and entertainment, carriage rides and more. 

A roast beef dinner is being held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Monica Quinlan Hired as Director of Corporate and Financial Services

The Town of The Blue Mountains is pleased to announce Monica Quinlan as its new Director of Corporate and Financial Services. 

As Director, Monica will be responsible for all activities related to the Corporate and Financial Services Department, including financial planning, accounting, purchasing, risk management and information technology. Monica will also be responsible and accountable for all the duties of the Treasurer in accordance with the Municipal Act and Town policies.

Public Survey Open for the Joint Multi-Use Recreation Feasibility Assessment 

The Town of The Blue Mountains and Town of Collingwood have launched a public survey to gather feedback from residents in both communities and the surrounding areas regarding the Joint Multi-Use Recreation Feasibility Assessment (MURFA) project.

The purpose of the MURFA is to assess the current and future recreational facility needs of residents from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains communities.

Members of the public are encouraged to complete the survey to share details about their usage and priorities for existing recreational and library facilities, and to share what is desired for future facilities. A simplified version of the survey has also been prepared for youth in the community under the age of 18. Both surveys will be open until September 30, 2024.

Seniors Fair Returns Wednesday, September 18

The Town of The Blue Mountains is proud to once again host the Seniors Fair in partnership with the Blue Mountains Seniors Network on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the Beaver Valley Community Centre in Thornbury.

The Seniors Fair will run from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will feature information on local senior services, transportation, housing, recreation and enhanced well-being.

Local organizations and vendors will also be set up at the event to speak with attendees and provide information. The Seniors Fair is a free event, and refreshments will be provided.

Georgian Bay Forever is committed to making a positive impact on the local beaches and waterways by hosting recurring shoreline cleanup events at multiple locations including the Thornbury Fishway and Little River Park.
