BC Sepsis Network Webinar
The BC Provincial ED Sepsis Dashboard is Now Live!
October 07, 2020 | 1200 PT | Zoom

The need to collect site-specific and meaningful sepsis data to influence clinical outcomes and quality improvement during COVID-19 is more important than ever. The BC Provincial ED Sepsis Dashboard is now live throughout the province and provides clinical and administrative staff the ability to directly access real-time ED sepsis processes and clinical outcomes and use these indicators to inform quality improvement work. While COVID-19 requires all potentially septic patients to be isolated early, it is paramount that we ensure all septic patients, COVID-19 or otherwise, are receiving optimal care.

In this webinar, Dr Steve Ahkioon and Dr. David Sweet will guide us through the ins and outs of the ED-ICU sepsis dashboard; from how and what information is collected, to how you can apply findings towards improving clinical outcomes.

Objectives

  1. Understand what information is collected and presented on the Provincial ED Sepsis Dashboard.
  2. Efficiently navigate the Provincial ED Sepsis Dashboard from your site.
  3. How can the Provincial ED Sepsis Dashboard be utilized to improve care at your site.

September 13 is World Sepsis Day
Join the Fight Against Sepsis & COVID-19

September 13 is World Sepsis Day, an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against sepsis. Sepsis kills 11 million people every year yet, depending on country and education, is known only to 7- 50% of people.

We created the BC Sepsis Network to support the sepsis improvement work of health care providers across the province. In honour of World Sepsis Day on September 13, we're working alongside network members to plan activities to increase sepsis awareness among patients, families and caregivers.

Visit our website to download a World Sepsis Day toolkit, find ways to join the fight against sepsis and learn about the connection between sepsis, pandemics and antimicrobial resistance.

About the BC Sepsis Network

The BC Patient Safety & Quality Council created the BC Sepsis Network in 2012 to connect physicians and nurses in emergency departments throughout the province who could champion sepsis improvement locally. The BC Sepsis Network is a highly visible member of the global sepsis community, participating in the first Annual Global Sepsis Congress and annual World Sepsis Day campaigns, and has been an early adopter of new Centre for Disease Control sepsis resources.
