Accepting Applications: Funding Opportunities

Business Scale-up and Productivity (BSP) in British Columbia

The Business Scale-up and Productivity funding is open to Expressions of Interest until April 30. This program funds high-growth businesses in BC that are scaling and developing innovative goods, services or technologies and focuses on both established and merging sectors. Funding is interest-free, repayable contributions of $200,000 to $5M per project.

CanExport SMEs Funding

CanExport SMEs has opened applications for the 2025-26 fiscal year. This funding can help support your business to expand beyond Canada. Eligible small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can receive up to $50,000 to cover 50% of the costs of exporting products or services to countries where they have little or no sales. CanExport SMEs is a competitive program with limited funding and applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Economic Development Table Partners

The Economic Development Table is a network of organizations and other actors in Abbotsford who have a role, mandate and interest in local economic development. It is an initiative of the City of Abbotsford (Economic Development Department), that helps to build on collaborative work already taking place, increasing information sharing and identifying potential opportunities to collaborate. 

Most recently, the Economic Development Table helped to develop the framework for the Manufacturing Sector Roundtable hosted on March 20, 2024. This roundtable was an excellent opportunity to learn more about Abbotsford's manufacturing sector and how we can collectively support this industry.

Filming in Abbotsford

Advantages to Filming in Abbotsford:

Film permitting costs, location costs and other associated fees are typically lower in Abbotsford than other municipalities, supporting the growth of the film sector in Abbotsford. Film productions in Abbotsford are also eligible for additional Motion Picture Tax Credits to encourage film and television live-action, VFX and animated productions in British Columbia. These savings typically make up for the additional costs incurred from transporting cast, crew, and equipment to Abbotsford. These tax credits are labour-based refundable corporate income tax credits that are administered by Creative BC.

Register Your Property with Creative BC:

Did you know your business or home could have a starring role as a film location in a movie or TV series? Registration is easy and free with Creative BC. Simply register your property/business and create a digital photo file of your location. Creative BC will promote each registered property to the film industry through their online portal.

Canada Day Corporate Partnership:

Over 65,000 residents attend the annual Canada Day Parade and Festival held at Exhibition Park in Abbotsford. It is a free, fun, family event that all can enjoy, and there are lots of ways your business can partner with the City. For Corporate Partnership opportunities please email econdev@abbotsford.ca 

The City of Abbotsford and Tourism Abbotsford are partnering together to organize Canada Day, July 1, 2025. The event includes a parade, a family festival including entertainment, vendors, a marketplace, food trucks, agriculture zone, and more, and ends the night with fireworks. Submit your parade registration prior to June 6, 2025.

Canadian Red Cross Ready Rating Program

  • Ready Rating is a free program, provided through a partnership between the Canadian Red Cross and the American Red Cross. The program helps businesses and organizations become better prepared for disasters and other emergencies.
