Hello Fairview Clayton Park!
As May unfolds, there are several exciting community events to look forward to, along with ongoing initiatives and recent engagements that directly impact our area.
Join us in June, for our second community clean-up of the season. A date will be emailed out once confirmed, but hold June 22 for now. We'll meet at Fairview Junior High (155 Rosedale Ave) at 10 am. Garbage bags and gloves will be supplied, so come and lend a hand in keeping Fairview Clayton Park a beautiful place to live and play. My team and I would love to see you there!
Next week from May 30 to June 2, our community will be hosting the annual Lebanese Cedar Festival and Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church. Admission is free and it promises to be a fun filled weekend with excellent entertainment and delicious food - hope to see you all there!
Additionally, mark your calendars for the Fairview Farmers Market Grand Opening happening on June 6th! Join us as we kick off another exciting season of supporting local vendors and enjoying fresh, delicious produce. And don't forget to save the date for the Fairview Community Association Summer BBQ on August 17th! It's sure to be a fantastic day of community celebration and connection.
Shifting gears, I want to address concerns regarding the placement of grade 6 students to the junior high schools. I am actively engaging with HRCE to understand some of the issues, including the lack of excel programming for the grade 6 students and logistical challenges surrounding the movement of Pre-Primary back to Burton Ettinger, which currently lacks proper playground equipment. Rest assured, I will continue to advocate for the commitment to a new school in Fairview Clayton Park, especially as we've seen enrollment skyrocket by 35% since 2016.
Earlier this month, I had the privilege of being joined by Zach Churchill and members of the Nova Scotia Liberal Caucus as we visited community organizations and knocked on doors. We wrapped up the day with an informative town hall meeting at the Fairview Legion. We discussed a number of important ideas to help Nova Scotians navigate the affordability crisis. I've shared my thoughts on this engaging event on my website.
As we head into the warmer months, I can't wait to see more of you on the doorsteps. Your input and engagement are vital in shaping our community's future. If you have any concerns, ideas, or suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out—I'm here to listen and act on your behalf.
Thank you for your continued support, and let's continue to make Fairview—Clayton Park an even better place to live, work, and thrive.
Warm regards,
