Espaces francophones UBCO invites you to discover and celebrate International Francophonie Day with two great events. Between 11:30 am and 1 pm, stop by the kiosk at the Sawchuk Family Theatre for trivia games, delicious Canadian cheese, sweets, Francophone music and to learn more about other upcoming Francophone events. In the evening from 5 to 7 pm, the Centre culturel francophone de l’Okanagan along with Espaces francophones are hosting Les Arts Francophones with tasting specialties from Francophone cultures and musical entertainment. This is a free event; just RSVP and show your student ID. RSVP | March 21: One Hour, No Power 💡 UBC Okanagan’s Sustainability Office invites you to participate in the campus-wide challenge of Earth Hour: One Hour, No Power. Turn off lights from 12 to 1 pm in unoccupied spaces campus-wide during this one-hour challenge. Let’s show how UBCO can conserve energy. Learn more | March 26: Get your hands dirty with this seed bomb making event! 🌱 Create your own wildflower seed bombs and plant herb seeds to take home! Seed bombs are easy to make and the wildflowers that grow from them will attract pollinators. Join us on Tuesday, March 26 from 11 am to 2pm at the at the UBCO Community Market on University Way (between UNC and Fipke). All supplies will be provided. Learn more | April 4: Join a Conversation with Dr. David Suzuki Renowned environmentalist, author, broadcaster and activist Dr. David Suzuki will be in COMS 201 on Thursday, April 4 to deliver a free talk and participate in a Q&A. Suzuki’s talk, entitled "Humanity at a Crossroad: Business as Usual or Transformation" is presented by the UBC Cluster of Research Excellence in Solar Energy for Net Zero and UBC Faculty of Applied Science. They listen to help evoke it. But how? Join in for this interactive workshop for students and let’s re-evaluate together what it means to lead, and to be led. We’ll start with an engaging introduction to Motivational Interviewing, eat a free pizza lunch 🍕, and continue by putting these skills into the practice of leadership.
