Hi

What's Happening at IHC

Men's Health Month

June is Canada’s Men's Health Month, a national observance used to raise awareness about health care for men and focus on encouraging boys, men and their families to practice and implement healthy living decisions, such as exercising and eating healthy.

We have several doctors at both of our clinic locations who focus on Men’s Health and are ready to help you take the steps necessary to improve your health. We offer full health work ups, which include screening physical exams and extensive laboratory testing including blood work to capture your current state of health. This visit is followed by a comprehensive analysis and treatment plan to launch you on your way to achieving your health goals.

Not ready to commit? Call and book a 15 minute free health assessment (phone or in-person) to find out from one of our doctors how we can help you!

B12 Injections

Vitamin B12 is essential for many bodily functions, including making red blood cells and for proper nerve function and health. B12 levels are often found to be suboptimal due to dietary or absorption issues.

Some symptoms of Vitamin B12 deficiency are:

  • fatigue
  • depression, anxiety
  • numbness/ tingling in hands and feet
  • infertility
  • headaches
  • feeling faint
  • pale skin

For many, receiving weekly or monthly Vitamin B12 injections can greatly improve their quality of life.

Lung Screening Program

Integrated Health Clinic is excited to work with the BC Cancer Agency in promoting their recently launched provincewide lung cancer screening program, providing access to eligible high-risk people at 36 sites throughout the province, using CT scans.

The Lung Screening Program launched in May 2022 expects to start screening close to 10,000 patients in the first year of the program, increasing capacity by approximately 15% per year. It is estimated the program will diagnose approximately 150 lung cancer cases annually, with more than 75% of these diagnosed at an earlier stage than without screening.

Lung screening is best suited for those who are at high risk for lung cancer and who are not experiencing symptoms. Eligible participants may include those who are:

  • between 55 and 74;
  • currently smoking or have previously smoked; and
  • have a smoking history of 20 years or more.

This is another cancer screening program that IHC is now offering through the BCCA, a world leader in cancer screening and treatment. At IHC we also offer the following:

  • Annual physical examinations
  • Skin examinations with dermatoscopy
  • Female pelvic examinations with pap smears
  • Prostate examinations + PSA monitoring
  • Breast health examinations, mammography referrals, bedside sonography, digital infrared thermal imaging
  • Annual rectal examinations + FIT testing + Stool DNA testing for colorectal cancer screening

Let us help you design an annual cancer screening program for you. Based on your family history, your personal health history, and your risk factors.

Perhaps more importantly, we can also help with a cancer prevention and wellness plan.

As the founder and medical director of IHC’s Cancer Care Centre, Dr. Gurdev Parmar, ND, FABNO(USA) works closely with his associates to provide these and many other services.

Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is able to preserve and even increase bone mineral density at all skeletal sites, such as lumbar spine, femoral neck and forearm in postmenopausal women. In premenopausal women with oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea characterized by low estrogen production, the administration of HRT can restore bone turnover and normal bone density jeopardized by an untimely decrease in estrogen production.

Chronic Pain

Regenerative Medicine, also known as Orthobiologics, uses an injected solution to help promote the body’s innate ability to heal. Injection of growth factors or growth factor stimulants can result in growth of normal cells or tissues, stabilization of joints, and reduction or elimination of pain. Most importantly, these procedures improve function of your injured or degenerative tendon, ligament, and/or joint!

Doctor Favourite Receipe

Thai Peanut Sauce

We use this sauce for our Thai Buddha bowls but it would be good as a sauce to dip your chicken skewers into too.

(Tip! make a double batch and save the rest for another time)

3 thin slices ginger- cut across the grain, about the size of a quarter.

1 fat clove garlic

¼ cup peanut butter (or substitute with almond butter!)

¼ cup fresh orange juice (roughly ½ an orange)

3 tablespoon fresh lime juice (1 lime)

2 tablespoons soy sauce or GF Braggs Liquid Amino Acids (Note: Tamari will turn this unpleasantly dark)

3 tablespoons honey or agave

3 tablespoons toasted sesame oil

A squirt of sriracha sauce (or 1/2 tsp cayenne)

½ teaspoon salt

Wondering what a Buddha bowl is: rice or quinoa, topped with whatever is in your fridge. We love chicken, grated carrots, cabbage. snap peas, diced peppers, cilantro and cucumber. Yummy!
