Learn more | | DISTRICT OF SQUAMISH RECEIVES $6.285 MILLION GRANT FROM B.C. GROWING COMMUNITIES FUND | The District of Squamish has received $6.285M in provincial funding through the new Growing Communities Fund. The funding provides one-time assistance to local governments across the province for projects that support community growth. The funds are intended to help address urgent priorities in B.C. communities. “It’s great that the province is recognizing the pressures that B.C. municipalities are facing to keep up with growth,” says District of Squamish Mayor Armand Hurford. “I, along with my Council colleagues, look forward to discussing how to best utilize these funds to maximize the benefit to the community. Register now | | | Garibaldi Way and Tantalus Road Intersection improvements Work on this project will begin this month to improve safety and traffic flow for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists at the intersection of Garibaldi Way and Tantalus Road, as well as the surrounding area. Affected businesses will be contacted directly. | Updates to Short-term rentals in Squamish Following the Short Term Rental (STR) Program annual review on February 14, the District is initiating several program changes to improve licensing administration, address barriers identified by licensees, and support ongoing enforcement and compliance efforts. Learn more | Ammonia drill at Brennan Park Recreation Centre An ammonia drill will take place on Wednesday, March 8 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. to test the centre’s emergency procedures and provide an opportunity for team training. This test is required by Technical Safety BC as part of the recreation centre’s operating permit. Please expect impacts to programming for the duration of the drill as well as the activation of fire bells and blue warning lights.
