Fall is our favourite time of the year at the Toews’ household! It is when the weather finally cools down enough to use the oven for some festive feasts (or cookies), to be active outside in the surrounding mountains as the leaves change colour, and to sleep with the window open...ahhhhh, fresh air. We take a weekend to harvest our garden one last time, turning the last of our yield into some hearty soups, scrumptious sauces, and delicious preserves. Not to mention, we need to locate that perfect pumpkin to decorate our house in preparation for Halloween. It’s the perfect season to take a breath, reflect on a busy back to school schedule, and keep our mental health in check - stay tuned for some exciting THRIVE events this month. And, of course, November is when we are able to take in some long-awaited Heat Varsity Basketball and Volleyball Games. Between our volleyball teams kicking off their season on November 4 & 5 against University of the Fraser Valley and basketball’s home opener against UBC on November 12 & 13, there will be lots of entertainment available – just make sure you’re fully vaccinated if you wish to attend any of our games.
