Flags raised in celebration of Pride at UBCO

Did you know that October is Queer History Month? Starting this week until mid-November, there are 94 Pride flags displayed on banner poles across campus to celebrate the Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer (or Questioning), Intersex, and Asexual communities (2SLGBTQIA+).

The Pride flags are raised to represent and support a sense of belonging for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities at UBC Okanagan and are proudly displayed to signal our campus as an inclusive and welcoming space for all. The flags are also intended to inspire meaningful learning through education and conversation and build connections by and for all community members.

Join the forward thinkers considering these questions, for a spirited debate that promises to challenge assumptions, provoke thought, and potentially reshape your understanding of the future of free speech.
