"Home" is a word that immediately triggers all kinds of emotional feelings and longings for all of us. It is essential for all ages to have a place where they know they belong and feel secure in our increasingly unpredictable times. So, it is helpful to have done some planning when an awareness of our aging and the need for a time of transition to a new location becomes our experience. Relocating and change are never easily embraced and we can often wait too long in making the necessary adjustments for healthy aging transitions. CHAT is committed to providing the resources to recognize the options that are available to us as we face this season in our life's journey.
In his insightful book Life is in the Transitions: Mastering Change at Any Age (Penguin Press, 2020) , Bruce Feiler gives a helpful definition of a life transition.
"A transition is a vital period of adjustment, creativity, and rebirth that helps one find meaning after a major life disruption."
In this newsletter, Darrell and Sharon Johnson provide helpful insights into the processing of their move a few years ago when they were both able to make an informed and wise decision. We also appreciate Eleanor Wolverton's sharing about her time of transition and embracing the resulting changes for her and her family at the age of 90. The CHAT sponsored free upcoming "Options in Retirement Living" webinar being offered by Jamey MacDonald on September, 26th is an excellent presentation outlining the considerations and possibilities for you and your family as you plan for your future.
CHAT also wants to introduce you to a new website resource created by Laurie Barber, Tochar Studios. The website is designed to encourage, inspire and provide ways of meditating and embracing life more fully by being aware of God's presence and care through creation, our families and faith. Some of the Tochar articles and videos will be posted on the CHAT website.
