“This is not the time to load up your truck from a home renovation project or spring cleaning. We saw a large increase in customers over the weekend that seemed to be doing just that. Please hold onto these items until we return to normal operations,” said Ken Gillis, TNRD Chair.
It is important that customers observe social distancing while on site. Access to the site may be limited depending on customer volume. Please be patient as we put these measures in place to keep all our residents, staff and contractors safe. The TNRD is committed to keep solid waste facilities operational as a critical service in the TNRD.
Free Disposal Days and Household Hazardous Waste Round-Ups have been postponed until further notice. These events typical take place in April and May and the TNRD will determine new dates at a future time.
For those residents of Savona, Tobiano, Cherry Creek, Blue River and Avola – curbside collection will continue following the normal schedule. For other curbside collection programs please contact your municipality. Residents with curbside collection are also being reminded to bag and tie garbage to avoid litter.
For Barnhartvale/Monte Creek area residents, please be advised that the City of Kamloops is temporarily not accepting garbage at the Barnhartvale landfill. Please use the South Thompson Eco-Depot (Pritchard) and Westwold facilities in the meantime, and visit the TNRD website for hours of operation.
Please continue to monitor our website, social media, and local news agencies for updates and changes to these policies. For Solid Waste-related questions please contact 250-377-2596 or recycleright@tnrd.ca.
