Food Inflammatioin Test (FIT)

IHC has added a new food sensitivity test to our growing list of options. The FIT test allows to check on as few as 22 foods, and up to 176 items through a simple finger prick. It is a great affordable option for adults and children as the 22 panel tests the most common allergens as well as candida (yeast). It is also be a great option for those that do not like or tolerate blood draws, as it requires only a finger prick.

Talk with your IHC Doctor about whether this test would be a good fit for you!

IV Iron Infusions in White Rock Clinic

We are now offering I.V. Iron infusions at our White Rock location!

Iron deficiency can be caused by a variety of conditions including pregnancy, heavy or irregular menstrual cycles, surgeries, GI illness (celiac/ IBS/ IBD), cardiac and renal issues, cancer, and more.

Taking oral iron can be hard on your digestive system and is often difficult to absorb. To access I.V. iron, we require either a referral form completed by your health care provider (GP, ND, midwife, other specialists) or an internal referral can be made by booking an I.V. screening visit and completing necessary laboratory testing.

All iron infusions are ordered and supervised by Emergency Physician, Dr. Adam Davidson, MD, in affiliation with Mainline Wellness.

Check out our website for more information and referral forms.

Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM)

Dr. Gurdev Parmar was invited to write a chapter for an upcoming textbook on glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) by an international group of brain cancer specialists, researchers and clinicians, for IntechOpen Publishers.

This was prompted by the impressive results he and the IHC CCC published after 8-years of treating our GBM patients with loco-regional hyperthermia (LRHT) within our comprehensive naturopathic framework. The 8-year data was published in 2019 by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. Our impressive results have garnered some international attention!

Dr. Parmar has now finished the incredible task of collecting our 10-year outcomes for our GBM patients, and have compared their survival to the Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) data from the USA’s National Cancer Institute. The results are summarized in the following:

IHC: Mean survival 2.69 (95% Confidence interval: 2.10-3.28)

SEER: Mean survival 1.50 (95% Confidence interval: 1.48-1.54)

Hazard ratio from Cox regression model: comparing with SEER patients,

HR=2.19 (95% Confidence Interval: 1.63 - 2.95)

In other words, IHC patients are 119% more likely to survive.

Losing Your Hair?

There are effective researched solutions for you!

Male pattern baldness is a concern for men and women alike. Did you know that there have been recent advancements in treatment for this condition?

Because of the complexity of the condition it is best addressed with a few modalities (that are all offered at IHC).

An erbium laser therapy called Hair Restore and PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) therapy, together have been researched and have been shown to be effective in improving hair regrowth.

The benefit of addressing hair loss at IHC is that we will address the root cause of the hair loss and provide answers and effective treatments for it. The research above is based on male pattern baldness, but PRP and Hair Restore are helpful for most all types of hair loss! Exciting right?

Chicken Liver Pâté

A nutrient dense snack or appetizer that will leave you coming back for more. Organ meats, especially liver, are the most nutrient dense foods on the planet. If you are looking for a rich snack that will leave you feeling fuelled and full, then give this liver pate a try.

Ingredients:

1/2-pound chicken livers, well-trimmed

1/2 small onion, thinly sliced

1 small garlic clove, smashed and peeled

1 bay leaf

1/4 teaspoon thyme leaves

Kosher salt

1/2 cup water

1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, at room temperature

2 teaspoons Cognac or Scotch whisky

Freshly ground pepper

Toasted baguette slices, for serving

Directions:

Step 1

In a medium saucepan, combine the chicken livers, onion, garlic, bay leaf, thyme and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Add the water and bring to a simmer. Cover, reduce the heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, until the livers are barely pink inside, about 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes.

Step 2

Discard the bay leaf. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the livers, onion and garlic to a food processor; process until coarsely pureed. With the machine on, add the butter, 2 tablespoons at a time, until incorporated. Add the Cognac, season with salt and pepper and process until completely smooth. Scrape the pâté into 2 or 3 large ramekins. Press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the pâté and refrigerate until firm. Serve chilled.
