Message from Island Health

There are currently close to 200 people isolating within the Island Health region. Over half of these are in the Central Island.

Please keep following these steps so that people in your communities can continue to run businesses, go to work, go to school and stay well. Thank you for all you have done so far to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and to take care of your friends and neighbours.

✔️Limit social interactions to your immediate household. If you live alone, you must limit social interactions to one or two people who are already in your safe bubble. The fewer people we see, the less chance of exposure.

✔️Masks or a face covering must be worn in all indoor public settings, including all retail stores and restaurants, except when eating or drinking.

✔️Travel should be limited to essential travel only. Wash your hands often – the easiest way to prevent the spread!

✔️Limit time in public places to essential trips for things like groceries and medications.

✔️If you’re feeling sick at all, please stay home, self-isolate and visit bc.thrive.health or islandhealth.ca/covid19 to determine your next steps.

You can keep up to date with what’s going on in our region via our COVID-19 dashboard: www.islandhealth.ca/covid19dashboard.

Parks, Recreation & Culture Updates

Will Your Commute be Affected?

Check out the City's Current Construction Projects page for up-to-date information on City construction projects. Here are a few projects that may affect your commute:

  • Bowen Road is complete! Thank you for everyone's patience over the past 6 months!

  • Metral Drive, between Turner Road and Godfrey Road, has been reduced to gravel and underground utility work is underway. Traffic on the gravel road will be limited to residents only. Commuters are encouraged to plan additional time to navigate the area or preferably, to avoid the area completely by detouring on the Island Highway.
