UBCO Heat fall success celebration

After a remarkable run of success this past term, the Department of Athletics and Recreation will celebrate their fall teams on Friday, January 21. Head down to the Furnace (UBCO Gymnasium) to help celebrate as the UBCO Heat basketball teams challenge the UNBC Timberwolves. The action gets underway at 5 pm for the women’s game followed by the men’s game at 7 pm. The celebration will take place during halftime at the men's game.

Some honourable mentions include the softball team (2021 Canadian Collegiate Softball Association National Champions), women’s cross country (Canada West silver medalists), women’s golf (Canada West silver medalists), and other individual all-stars and award winners.

Which faculty will save humanity?

Humans have pushed the world to the brink of extinction. There is only one chance to reverse this: an experimental time machine capable of sending a single person on a one-way trip through time to the first known human civilization.

Join us on January 26 for UBCO’s iconic event: the Life Raft Debate. Professors from different faculties will debate against each other as they fight for the title of time traveller.

Each professor must assert the importance of their discipline to lead the ancient society, fix the mistakes of the past, and lead us to a brighter, more promising future for the human race. You (the audience) will decide who we send, or perhaps that we should send no one at all.

Want to improve your Chinese? Your English? Your Hindi? Your Italian? Your...?

The Tandem Program pairs you with someone at UBC who speaks a language that you want to improve and who wants to improve in a language that you speak. In other words, you help each other. You spend half the time in each language. This program is free, no teaching experience is required, and activities and support are provided by a facilitator.

The program will run from January 24 to April 1 and matched partners meet virtually or in-person once weekly for a total of nine weeks.

Take the chance to meet people from different cultures, improve your language learning outside the classroom, and gain valuable assets for international travel or future employment.
