ENVIRONNEMENT

ENVIRONMENT

Invasive Plant Control

Nature-Action Québec, a non-profit environmental organization, will soon begin work to control invasive plant species in the cattail marsh on Como-Gardens Street.

On October 19, 20 and 21, specialists will work to uproot and crush unwanted plants that force out native species in the area. The work will be carried out by hand, without pesticides or machinery.

This is the first step in a three-year project to help restore the marsh. Over the coming years, the site will be closely monitored and native species suited to the area will be planted to support its recovery.

Please note that while the operation at the Cattail Marsh on Como‑Gardens Street is underway, a container will also be installed near the corner of Woodcroft and Shepard Circle starting October 19, and will be picked up during the following week.
