MRO and Defence Innovation Day:

The MRO Working Group met last week at Air Transat. It is actively working on mapping players in the sector in Québec as well as on the program for MRO and Defence Innovation Day on April 22 as part of International Aerospace Week 2020.

Recruitment call: Space Committee:

Aéro Montréal wants to set up a space committee effective January 2020. The creation of this committee is based on three major factors:

  • Lack of organization and representation of Québec’s space supply chain at the local and international levels.
  • Opportunity to leverage the Canadarm3 project launched in February 2019 by the Canadian government to establish and position a supply chain capable of meeting identified needs.
  • Alignment with the 2025 Canadian Strategy, which promotes a greater representation by the Canadian space ecosystem.

In light of these three factors, it is essential that we seize this opportunity to position the Québec and Canadian space sector so that we retain our international leadership.

Establishment of two focused communities:

  1. The Morocco Community: For companies wanting/planning to develop activities in Morocco.
  2. The Finishing and Surface Treatment Community: For companies that use or provide surface finishing/processing services in Québec and want to get involved to find solutions to cope with declining capacity in Québec.

These communities are open to all Aéro Montréal members who have a clear interest in the proposed subjects. They allow us to take action, together, on current issues within the industry. They require involvement in person or over the phone. The number of meetings over the year varies depending on the needs of the community.

Elektro-Kut takes the 4.0 shift
The Laval company can count on the support of the Government of Canada to boost its growth and seize new business opportunities.

SMEs, which are facing a growing scarcity of technical and specialized labour, are no longer able to meet the requirements of their customers and fully seize business opportunities. In order to meet the growing worldwide demand for the production of specialized parts, Electro-Kut is therefore undertaking an ambitious automation, robotization and digitization project.
