Library Mid-Month Update

Library Survey Open Until Oct. 31

Last year we asked for your input to help us build a Strategic Plan for 2021—an unusual year under COVID.

We ask for your help again as we plan for the library's future for 2022 and beyond. Please fill in our short survey, and share with us what you want from your library.

Paper copies are available at the library circulation desk as well.

Submit Your Best Two-Sentence Horror Stories This October!

Throughout October, people of all ages are invited to write their best two-sentence horror stories and submit them at the Bowen Library!

Here are some of the spook-tacular stories submitted so far:

Woo...woo...woo... The ghosts were making scary noises in the bedroom of the old mansion. They are trying to tell us there is a murder about to happen.
By Kiiko

Shivering, with the eerie autumn moonlight lighting the grave, she knelt down and gingerly scraped the frost-tinged soil off the stiff, white finger and uncovered an entire human hand. It was warm.
By Susan

Once there was a hungry ghost, so at night the ghost stole all the kids' candy! The end.
By Justin, age 11

We are posting them in the library for all to read, and will share some on our social media, website, and newsletter. Get into the Halloween spirit and get creative—how much horror can you pack into two sentences?

Need more inspiration? Read some samples here.

Pick up a bookmark-sized submission sheet at the library, or print it at home from our website and fill it in, then drop it off a the library or through our book drop.

You can also submit your two sentences via email to info@bowenlibrary.ca.
