PERCS Co-Development Meeting

On February 4, PERCS held its second annual co-development meeting – an opportunity to share PERCS research progress, and to gather input and feedback from project partners and other key stakeholders. The meeting included a presentation from the Fraser Valley Watersheds Coalition, as well as a panel on The economics of on-farm habitat creation in blueberry systems.

Applications now open to host Indigenous youth in seed2STEM summer research program

Seed2STEM provides funding and a pathway for Indigenous high school students to participate in summer research projects in STEM fields from July 6 - August 14.

Interested faculty are invited to submit a seed2STEM proposal by the March 20 deadline.

Wolf Reduction Helped Caribou Calves Survive  but Only in Rugged Terrain

This article quotes IBioS Member Dr. Cole Burton and discusses the B.C. government's wolf-removal program while his research published in The Journal of Wildlife Management found that the removal of wolves did not reduce calf deaths in others.

UN tax talks could unlock billions for nature – but only if negotiators get it right

This article, by IBioS Member Dr. Jessica Dempsey and colleagues, suggests that businesses watching nature markets and biodiversity credits should pay closer attention to current UN tax cooperation treaty talks, as they may prove hugely consequential.
