New Zoom Sessions for Summer 2024

Introduction to 2nd Half Lok Hup Ba Fa

Registration Required

The London Location is sponsoring a new Zoom class to learn the 2nd Half of the Lok Hup Ba Fa set. The class is open to members of the CTCA or ATCA. Non-members must provide an explanation where they are from and why they wish to attend. No charge for the zoom sessions.

The goal of the Introduction class is to progress slowly through the second half of the set from move 32 to the end of the set. The Introduction to 2nd Half Lok Hup Ba Fa will be led by Andrew Moore. The moves of the second half of the Lok Hup set will be reviewed in order with an emphasis on basic balance, angle and directions. The class will be targeted to people who do not know the 2nd Half of the Lok Hup set. Questions are encouraged. It is not easy to offer corrections through the Zoom platform. The focus will be on the 'beginner' form of Lok Hup Ba Fa.

The same section of the set will be shown in each class each week (Evening and Afternoon). You may attend one or both sessions. If you miss a week, the new section will be reviewed in the following two weeks. A weekly reminder will be sent out the previous Friday with the zoom link and pass code. Please do not share the zoom link. Each person must complete the registration process to attend the sessions.

Start Dates are Monday May 6 and Wednesday May 8

End Dates are Monday July 29 and Wednesday July 31

Weekly: Mondays from 7:30 to 9 PM EDT

Weekly: Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 PM EDT

Pre-requisites:

  • It is highly recommended that you have at least 4 years of Tai Chi experience with Mr. Moy’s Tai Chi
  • It is highly recommended that you have at least 2 years of experience practicing the first half of the Lok Hup set as taught by Mr. Moy
  • To learn the 2nd half you need to have put the time and effort into establishing your foundations and changing your physiology
  • The pace of the course will be slow to accommodate questions and provide opportunity for lots of practice
  • The class will focus on a short section of the set so you do not require a 'large' practice space
  • No camera required
  • No microphone required (if you have questions you will have to use the chat function to ask any questions)
  • Once you have registered you will receive the zoom invitation and weekly reminders
  • Registration Required
  • Submit a completed registration form to: workshop@LondonTaiChi.ca
  • For more information contact: workshop@LondonTaiChi.ca

Advice to people to attending the session:

  • Spend some time before the session working on the foundation exercises to prepare for the class
  • There will be lots of repetitions of each move
  • The moves will be demonstrated with both the forward facing and back facing directions to the camera
  • We will not be practicing the entire set. The focus will be on the new moves and the moves covered in the previous two weeks
  • Each week we will add new moves until we complete the second half of the set
  • The second half of the Lok Hup set is very different from the first half of the set and is a challenge to learn
