Attend the Kick-off November 28

Coquitlam’s beloved Lights at Lafarge returns with new displays and a festive launch on Friday, November 28, from 5 – 8 p.m. at Town Centre Park. Enjoy illuminated pathways, a fire performance and on-site food vendors (open 5–9 p.m.) at the kick-off event, with the lights staying on each evening until February 16.

2026 Junior Firefighter Program

Coquitlam Fire/Rescue and School District 43 are now accepting applications from grade 11 and 12 students for the 2026 Junior Firefighter Program, taking place in the first week of spring break, March 13 – 20. Review the online application requirements and apply by 3 p.m. on Friday, December 5.

Adopt a Catch Basin
Step Up for your Streets

Our city’s 16,000 catch basins help rainwater flow safely into Coquitlam’s drainage system and out to local streams. When they’re blocked by leaves, litter or snow, they can’t do their job – and that’s where you come in. Adopt a catch basin near your home or workplace and help avoid flooding on your street.

Winter Wise Parking
Park in your Driveway

When snow is on the way, park on your property — not the street — to ensure snow clearing vehicles can do their work safely. Some streets are designated 'no parking' from December to March, while others activate restrictions “when declared” during snow events. If you live on a “when-declared” street, sign up for notifications to avoid a ticket or tow.

Don't Leaf It Too Long
Free Extra Yard Trimmings

Another week remains to dispose of leaves, branches and grass clippings from your property with our Seasonal Unlimited Yard Trimmings program, running until November 28. On your collection day, set out your yard waste in labeled garbage cans, kraft paper bags, or bundles by 7:30 am, and a truck will collect them at no extra cost.

The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
