Summer Internships

10 Summer Student Internships Are Posted!
Apply by May 6 for These Positions Across the Province

If you're a student looking for a paid summer position to learn more about quality improvement and patient care, check out our internships with health care teams across BC! They provide opportunities to lead projects and deepen your understanding of quality improvement as a process.

Students are funded for up to 225 hours of work during the internship, which is expected to take place between June and August 2019. Funding is also available for students to attend conferences or publish in journals in order to disseminate their project results.

Learn more about our summer internship program, or click the links below to read more and apply for an internship!

Last year’s interns had positive feedback related to feeling supported to work in meaningful roles, gaining an understanding of the complexity of the health system and working with an interdisciplinary improvement team. In fact, 100% of the intern respondents said they would recommend the program to other students!

Internship applications are due May 6. Students may apply for more than one internship if they are interested in multiple projects.

Volunteer Week

Happy National Volunteer Week!
Thank You for All That You Do to Improve Health Care in BC

It's National Volunteer Week from April 7 - 13! This week is a time to celebrate and thank the volunteers who help to improve our health care system.

We administer the Patient Voices Network, which is comprised of many inspiring volunteer patient partners who work tirelessly with health care partners to better the patient experience and advance the patient voice. Improvement is a team effort and it couldn’t happen without your passion and hard work. Thank you!

Quality Café: Ensuring Inclusive, Appropriate Health Care for LGBTQ2S+ Seniors

Many of today’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and two-spirit (LGBTQ2S+) seniors have experienced a lifetime of discrimination based on their sexual orientation and/or gender identity and expression.

LGBTQ2S+ seniors may feel anxious about the increased vulnerability and loss of independence that can accompany aging. Some fear that they will need to hide their sexual orientation or moderate their gender expression in some way to receive quality health care in primary care, home care and long-term care settings.

In this Quality Café we will look at some of the experiences of LGBTQ2S+ seniors and explore ways that we can provide more affirming and inclusive care.

What Matters to You?

June 6 is International "What Matters to You?" Day
Mark Your Calendars and Begin to Prepare!

Over the past year, we've encouraged health care providers and patients to have “What matters to you?” conversations every day. And soon we want you to join us in celebrating the partnerships these conversations helped form!

Mark your calendar: International "What Matters to You?” Day is June 6 and we’re planning several events to celebrate the occasion. To kick off, we invite you to attend a “What Matters to You?” Day Preparation webinar on April 23 at 1200, when patients and health care providers will share their experiences and tips on how to start “What Matters to You?” conversations.

Join the webinar, learn more about “What Matters to You?” and order resources to support meaningful conversations!
