Brome Lake Water Level Under Monitoring

Over the past few days, due to heavy rainfall, the lake level has been higher than the values typically observed for this time of year.

To support a gradual return to target levels, the Public Works team made the necessary adjustments to the Foster Dam, in accordance with the current management protocol.

During the summer season, the lake level is generally maintained between 196.90 m and 197.00 m.

Although the current level remains controlled, recent precipitation and additional rainfall expected in the coming days may cause temporary fluctuations.

We invite lakeside residents to ensure that their docks, boat lifts, and other shoreline installations are properly adjusted and securely fastened based on current conditions.

2025 Financial Statement

The Town ended the 2025 fiscal year with an operating surplus of $2.464 million.

At the June 1 meeting, the Municipal Council allocated part of this amount to priority projects, including road network maintenance ($1 million), the reconstruction of Fulford Road ($800,000), and the maintenance of recreation centres, with the exception of the Centre Lac-Brome ($100,000).

The Town also confirms that it has met the ratios established in its Debt Management Policy, which are intended to ensure rigorous and responsible management of municipal debt.

New Regulation for Public Trails

To promote safe and harmonious shared use of its approximately 20 kilometres of trails, the Town of Brome Lake has adopted By-law 2026-09 concerning public trails.

The by-law specifies permitted modes of transportation, establishes a speed limit of 20 km/h, and sets out courtesy and safety rules for all trail users. Pedestrians and cyclists must keep to the right, while passing is done on the left.

These measures are intended to preserve the quality of the trail network and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, including those accompanied by a pet.

To view By-law 2026-09, click here.

To support the adoption of this new By-law, an awareness campaign will be deployed:

  • on social media
  • through strategically positioned signage in high-traffic areas of the trail
  • by distributing information cards directly to trail users by our volunteer bike patrol

The patrol will be responsible for:

  • raising awareness, informing, and guiding users
  • promoting a spirit of good cohabitation among pedestrians, cyclists, families, visitors and residents
  • acting as ambassadors
  • intervening safely in case of emergency or incident

The Nautical Patrol Is Back for the Summer

The team, made up of Jean-Luc, Loïc, Mayla and Thomas, will be present throughout the summer season to help ensure the safety of waterway users, raise public awareness, and promote compliance with applicable laws and municipal by-laws.

This summer, the patrol will be active:

  • on the lake
  • in municipal parking lots
  • on local trails

Feel free to say hello when you see them!
