| March meeting is in-person 🙋♀️👩🎤👩💼👨🎨🧕👩👧🧙♀️ It feels like we’ve turned a corner (no sewing pun intended, haha). The days are getting a little longer, the weather is a little better, and the zoom meetings are done for now. There’s a lot planned for our next meeting, so here’s the rundown: 1. Yard-age Sale Bring quilt-related things you wanna sell at our pop-up yard sale. Make sure everything is priced and fits in a shallow box or tub with your name on it. Bring a small box or tupperware container with your name on it so people can place their money into it—we’re doing the honour system for payment so everyone can browse what’s for sale at once. 2. Block Lotto Bonanza Bring your block lotto blocks from Jan—Puzzle Patch, Feb—Love Note, and March—Improv Wavy Curves. We’re drawing for all three!!! 3. WIPs 2023 + 2024 We’re drawing for the 2023 WIP program. Bring your toonies, you can sign up for your 2024 WIPs. More details below. | Newsletter call for content We’d like to shine a light on our talented members and celebrate our successes! Would you like to be featured in our Member Spotlight? Consider sharing a little about your quilting background if you’re new, or reintroduce yourself if you’ve been a long-time member. Have you created a new pattern? Are you featured in a publication? Have you won an award at a quilt show? Perhaps you’re participating in a quilt or quilt-related show, or you’ve done something recently that you’d like to share with other VMQG members. We want to make meaningful connections among our members. Please fill out this very short form and let us know the details. If you have any questions, just email Dianne, communication@cancouvermodernquiltguild.ca | Round Robin 2024 We’re starting up another Round Robin quilt project, and we’re going to hit the ground running! How it works You put a starting center square into a numbered bag, and then you don’t see it again until December, when we have the big reveal of every participant’s completed quilt top. | | Each month you bring the bag to our meeting to be swapped for another, to which you’ll contribute according to the instructions for that month. We ask for your commitment to follow the instructions for the month and bring back the bag at each meeting to be swapped. You could also organize for your bag to be brought in by someone else. Claudia will send the instructions by email and will also post them onto the VMQG Facebook page. If you cannot commit to come to most of the meetings to swap your bag, you could opt to make one by yourself, using the instructions, and still be part of the big reveal at our December meeting. To participate, please fill in this form If you have any questions, please email roundrobin@vancouvermodernquiltguild.ca Round Robin quilt photo courtesy of FelicityQuilts.com | VMQG Yard-age Sale We’re having a yard sale at our March meeting! Here’s your opportunity to go through your stash of quilt-related items that you no longer want or need, things like fat quarters, usable scraps of fabric, quilt tools (rulers, cutting tools, etc.), notions (thread, needles, pins, bobbins, etc.), quilt books, even orphan blocks could be of use to another member. Please gather your items and organize them into baggies or bundles and price them. If you have lots of usable fabric scraps, please organize them by colour. We suggest pricing items for $1, $2, $5 and $10, depending on the item. Put your items into a box or small bin with your name on it, and bring a box or tin for your sales. We’ll set up tables and anyone who wants to participate can place their boxes/bins on a table. The Yard Sale will take place over our meeting break. We’ll also have our usual free table too. Whatever isn’t taken/sold, we ask that you collect your items after the meeting. Donations to the VMQG from your sales are greatly appreciated ☺️ Donations for door prizes are also much appreciated! | Map Quilt Workshop with amy dame Saturday, March 23, 2024 10am to 5pm Croation Cultural Centre, Room C 3250 Commercial Drive, Vancouver $65 for members + $45 supply fee paid directly to amy $75 non-members + $45 supply fee paid directly to amy >> bring a friend!
