One of these zones is Sarnia, Canada, notorious for its disturbing health effects on the Aamjiwnaang First Nation. IRES's Dr. David Boyd and McKenna Hadley-Burke coordinated the collection of images of 50 of the worst sacrifice zones in the world, with submissions from 20+ countries, youth, Indigenous groups, and human rights institutions. Read More | | Student Canada Climate Platform Analyst | Gensqueeze Opportunity for a paid, remote-working position (a few hours/week now, fewer over the summer, then back up again in the fall) with a non-profit organization called GenSqueeze. PhD co-supervisor Paul Kershaw is the founder and executive director of GenSqueeze and he is looking for a student to help the organization analyze Canada’s climate platform, particularly as it aligns with carbon emission targets and the federal budget. The student would also contribute to synthesizing the information into media-friendly outputs. There are no particular required skills, although some knowledge of the Canadian climate policy environment and/or some experience in policy analysis are a plus. Learn More | | Support Bill C-226 to address Environmental Racism in Canada Canadian Coalition for Environmental and Climate Justice (CCECJ) and the ENRICH Project are leading a campaign to pass Bill C-226 in parliament. We, at CFMS HEART, along with IFMSA-QC, CAPE-Canada, and the David Suzuki Foundation are supporting these initiatives, given the far-reaching environmental health impacts.
