President Awards 2021

Congratulations to our practical nursing students who were chosen for the 2021 President Award!

Recipients of this award are chosen by the faculty members and peers from each college campus. Selection for this award is based on the quality and impact of a student’s professional practice on clients and families’ wellbeing, and for the exceptional quality of his or her communication skills. Preceptorship Incentive

Do you remember what it was like to be a student? Do you remember how nervous you were, and also how eager you were to learn? If so, why not consider preceptoring a new graduate as they transition into their nursing career?

In conversations with the colleges, ANBLPN has learned that the colleges often struggle to find enough preceptors for their PN graduates. Preceptoring a new graduate can be very rewarding and every LPN has something different to offer to new graduates.

To help increase preceptorship, ANBLPN is running a "Preceptorship Incentive"! Anyone who accepts to preceptor a student will be entered into a draw to win FREE REGISTRATION. There will be 3 lucky winners; one for preceptoring a PN graduate from each college cohort (NBCC, CCNB and Oulton College).  More details to follow in the coming weeks!

ANBLPN will also be launching a short fact sheet "Working with Students" in the fall of 2021 as well as hosting a live webinar to help guide both students and preceptors throughout the experience - stay tuned!

ANBLPN would like to thank all those, past and present, who have taken the time to preceptor new graduates.  Your time and efforts are appreciated!

NEW: Practice Guideline - Professional Boundaries

Our new practice guideline, Professional Boundaries, is now available on our website (www.anblpn.ca - MEMBERS - PRACTICE RESOURCES).

The therapeutic nurse-client relationship is foundational to nursing and this relationship is based on trust, respect and empathy.  LPNs must ensure that they practice according to their established professional standards, which includes establishing and maintaining professional boundaries with their clients at all times.

We invite all members to review this document which also includes warning signs to watch for and helpful Q&A Scenarios:
