SOCIAL SECURITY
A survey on your group insurance plan

On September 30, you will receive an email inviting you to take a survey on possible changes to your group insurance contract when it is renewed.

With group insurance plans under significant pressure, the goal of this exercise is to anticipate and mitigate the repercussions of possible increases that might be required to ensure our plan’s sustainability.

If you haven’t received the survey by then, please check your spam folder. If it’s not there, write to us at sondage@aptsq.com. Meanwhile, brush up on your knowledge by taking the test on our insurance web page.

ORGANIZATION OF WORK AND PROFESSIONAL ISSUES
Bill 67: the APTS presents its brief

Expanding the scope of professional practices must go hand in hand with robust measures on the ground, the APTS argued in its brief submitted last Thursday, as part of parliamentary consultations on Bill 67.

The union offers a winning roadmap for workforce planning, attracting and retaining employees, adjusting frameworks and rules for practice, valuing professional expertise and more.

It warns that without a global vision, the government’s commendable intentions could have unwanted consequences and might even compromise the protection of a strong, high-quality public system.

Future policy on home care and services: the APTS takes the lead

In the wake of the 2024-2029 government action plan,
La fierté de vieillir, the minister responsible for seniors, Sonia Bélanger, will develop a Québec-wide home care and services policy in the coming year.

Since APTS members play a crucial role in this field with seniors, we are calling on the minister to ensure your representatives are consulted so that your point of view is heard as part of this project.

Stay tuned. We’re closely monitoring the issue.

LABOUR RELATIONS
New collective agreement and CNESST benefits

If you’ve received income replacement indemnities from the CNESST (Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail) for an employment injury recognized as such or for protective leave as a pregnant woman, and payment of these benefits started on or after April 1, 2023, you can ask the CNESST for an adjustment.

Visit our web page for the steps to take.

COMMUNICATIONS
A major forum on suicide prevention

Do you play an active role in suicide prevention and are you interested in recent advances on the topic, both in research and in the field? This forum (in French) is perfect for you.

Organized by the Association québécoise de prévention du suicide (of which APTS is a partner), the event is an opportunity to meet and discuss with some 350 suicide prevention workers from a range of settings across Québec.

Whether to update your knowledge or develop rich, varied expertise, it’s an event you don’t want to miss, taking place October 28 to 30.

SOCIO-POLITICAL ACTION
Commemorating a tragic, painful history

In Canada, estimates are that over 150,000 Indigenous children attended residential schools in the 19th and 20th centuries.

This system, designed to destroy Indigenous culture and identity, resulted in the deaths of thousands of children.

This is why, on September 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we are invited to honour their memory and pay tribute to survivors.
