UBC's Return to Campus

UBC has created a number of online educational seminars regarding equity, diversity and inclusion in the STEM field. These sessions, which are offered this summer, cover a number of topics such as designing curriculum that considers equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), considering the well being of trainees and how leaders can incorporate EDI practices into their leadership. A description of the courses and how to register for the courses can be found here.

UBC's Biomedical Imaging & AI Cluster is cordially inviting you to their Spring BMI AI Research Exchange on Wednesday, June 23rd at 12pm.

This month they are featuring research on Digital Pathology from UBC’s Robotics Control Lab and AI in Medicine Lab.

Faculty of Graduate Studies:

GradUpdate - Graduate Pathways to Success Weekly Newsletter.

The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is pleased to announce the launch of the Graduate Covid Program Delay Tuition Award program, which provides support to graduate students whose academic and/or research progress was delayed by disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students who were registered in a research-based graduate program during the Summer 2020 term will receive an award equivalent to their tuition assessment, less any other tuition awards received for the same term, if they remain registered beyond the median duration of their degree program (in most cases, upon registration in the 8th term of a Master’s program or the 17th term of a doctoral program).

In the next few days, funds will be assigned to students who were eligible to receive the award in September 2020, January 2021 and May 2021. In the future, the award will be assigned to eligible students before the start of each term. Students do not need to apply for this award; awards will be assigned automatically by G+PS.

G+PS will send an explanatory email to all students who (i) will have their award assigned in the next few days and (ii) may be eligible, based on their 2020 Summer registration, to receive the award in the future.

For more information, please visit the Graduate Covid Program Delay Tuition Award webpage.

For several years now, the Research Commons at the Koerner Library has offered workshops and individual assistance to students with the computer programs they use to produce their theses. Unfortunately, due to changing circumstances at the Library, this service will no longer be available after June 30th.

G+PS would like to thank the Research Commons for the help it has provided to students. G+PS will continue to provide the resources on our website and pre-reviews of theses. We will also continue to offer the “Preparation and Submission of Theses and Dissertations” seminars through G+PS’ Graduate Pathways to Success. The Microsoft Word template developed by the Research Commons is now available on our website here:
However, G+PS is not able to provide assistance or training on how to use this template or any other computer program students have chosen to use.

Students: Visit the Research Commons online to register to attend the final Dissertations and Thesis formatting workshop https://libcal.library.ubc.ca/event/3599885
or to book a thesis formatting consultation https://libcal.library.ubc.ca/appointments/research_commons before this service ends.
