Mayor's Message

On behalf of King Township Council, welcome to the May edition of the King Bulletin.
Volunteer Appreciation Awards
On behalf of Council and residents, I’d like to congratulate the recipients of our annual Volunteer Appreciation Awards, including this year’s Citizen of the Year, Angelo Santorelli for his special dedication, generosity and time given to the community.
More than two dozen other people and organizations were honoured for their positive contributions to King. Their selflessness and dedication to making our community a better place is truly commendable.
For more information on how each of the award recipients volunteers their time, visit king.ca/awardrecipients.
Victoria Day fireworks
I’d like to remind the community that fireworks can only be set off on Victoria Day, Canada Day and the third day of Diwali and they can’t be set off on public land, including parks or parking lots.
Instead of setting off your own, make a day of it and attend the Victoria Day celebrations in Nobleton on Monday, May 22.
The day will also feature a parade at 11 a.m. and a fair with live entertainment, food and retail vendors from noon until 4 p.m. A midway with rides runs from noon until around 9 p.m. The band The Practically Hip will provide live music starting at 7:30 p.m.
The day is capped with a spectacular fireworks show at dusk, presented by King Fire and Emergency Services.
Be sure to arrive early since parking and space fill quickly. Bring your own blankets and/or lawn chairs. The best spot to see the fireworks is behind the Nobleton Arena.
Firefighters are now canvassing the community to raise funds for the event.

Come check out the agricultural and horticultural events, animal displays, homecraft competitions and the amusement rides at the Schomberg Fair. It runs from May 25 to May 28, right in the heart of downtown Schomberg.
