COVID-19: TRANSPORT CANADA UPDATE ON MEDICAL CERTIFICATES

COVID-19 poses a significant challenge to the Canadian health care system. Regulators at all levels of government are working to limit pressure on the system.

To this end, all persons who currently hold a valid Transport Canada Aviation Medical Certificate (CM) expiring on or before June 1, 2020 may continue to exercise the privileges of their permits, licenses or ratings until August 1 2020 subject to the conditions listed in the exemption notice of March 17, 2020  (English version).

In addition, no medical examination for new aviation CMs will be performed before at least May 1, 2020.

All holders of an aeronautical CM must continue to comply with the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) in all respects, and the CARs continue to apply in all respects other than the exemption mentioned. Holders of aviation CMs are reminded that they must not exercise their privileges if they cease to hold a valid CM by meeting one of the circumstances set out in section 404.06 of the CARs.

In summary: Civil aviation medical examiners should not conduct aviation medical examinations on behalf of Transport Canada until further notice.

VOLS D'ACCOMPAGNEMENT

Our support program: an opportunity to encourage the next generation, to offer coaching and to experience the pleasure of flying by plane Do you often fly alone? So why not offer your empty seat to a young pilot who can have an additional experience to his training or to another experienced pilot? It is important to ensure the succession and this program aims to make itself known to young people.

In addition, do you feel out of your comfort zone for certain types of flights? You never flew to the United States, you never went to Toronto; it's been a long time since you flew to a remote area; so why not ask for support using this application?

Or simply for the pleasure of being accompanied or for the pleasure of flying on a different type of plane than yours. The majority of pilots fly alone so why not share your empty seat. In addition, this application will allow pilots to meet for small impromptu meetings.

For example, a beautiful Saturday morning you decide to go to lunch at an airport, you will only have to use this application to meet other interested pilots. The beauty of Facebook is that it is an instant means of communication ... if you have subscribed to alerts, of course.

The terms of the program are very simple:

  • You subscribe to the Facebook group since it is a private group reserved for those who want to drive.
  • You subscribe to alerts in order to be automatically informed of offers and requests.
  • When you want to offer a seat, you just have to go and add an event.
  • The pilot-in-command must have a valid Transport Canada license, that his aircraft complies with the regulations (certificate of airworthiness, insurance) and that the flight is made in accordance with section 401.28 of the Canadian Aviation Regulations. This program is not intended as a substitute for any authorized flight training program.
