Working Group Member, Critical Care in Residential Care Homes
It can be a challenge to provide critical care in residential care homes in a way that meets the expectations of family and friends while ensuring the most optimal patient experience. That’s why being able to identify what is most meaningful to patients and families is critical to future care planning. The Critical Care Team at Surrey Memorial Hospital is seeking input from those families and friends who have experience with this issue to co-create a research study on improving the patients’ experience in taking care of a chronic illness at residential care homes.

Member, Home Support Resources Awareness Team
In today’s world, people access information through a variety of ways, whether it’s the internet or television. The Fraser Network Alliance recognizes that using these ways provides a unique opportunity to inform and engage the public, increasing their understanding of home support services available to them in Fraser Health. They are seeking patient partners, with experience in home support, to be a part of the development and production of videos that tell their story of using these services to help seniors stay home and healthy for as long as possible.

Focus Group Participant, Multi-Morbidity Innovation Project
Multi-Morbidity is a home health monitoring initiative to support patients with multiple chronic conditions work collaboratively with their care team. This initiative promotes a patient-centric approach, by improving patients’ understanding of their conditions and self-management capacity, providing access to the appropriate and preferred choice of services and support; as well as allowing patients to access care from their home and reducing the need to visit acute care facilities.

Participant, BC Children’s Hospital Biobank Workshop
BC Children’s Hospital is conducting a workshop for patients and parents on November 20 to come and express their opinions on the barriers, risks and benefits of biobanking. Biobanks are important to finding new and better treatments for all patients, and we want to make sure that biobank practices are effective, respectful and inclusive for all patients.
