Dear Members and Partners,

There are still a few days left to respond to the survey we have initiated with the research firm Léger. Already 43 companies have participated!

As you know, we have launched an unprecedented exercise, with Québec Net Positif, to strengthen knowledge and understanding of the actions implemented by companies in the Quebec aerospace sector.

By answering this completely confidential questionnaire, you will contribute to measuring the current level of commitment of Quebec aerospace companies to climate action and the transition to a low-carbon economy. 

Your company's participation is essential, and will have a major impact on the results and success of this initiative. These few minutes of your time are precious and will optimize our representations of the sector. And, for those who have stopped on the way, know that it is possible, at any time, to resume the survey where you left off.

A STRUCTURING ANNOUNCEMENT FOR AEROSPACE IN QUEBEC

The HonoUrable Pascale St-Onge, Minister of Sport and Minister responsible for the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec (CED), accompanied by Peter Schiefke, Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil-Soulanges, announced last week significant financial support from the government of Canada, granted under the Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative (ARRI) to organizations in Greater Montreal, the Eastern Townships and the Quebec‒Chaudière-Appalaches region.

This support totals an investment of more than $32 million in 14 projects that will contribute to the revival of the aerospace sector in Quebec.

Jarrod Morley, Director, Innovation, Competitiveness and Productivity at Aéro Montréal delivered a short speech for the occasion, commending the high level of innovation of the companies benefiting from this financial support, many of which are members of the cluster.

This announcement took place at Groupe Meloche in the presence of its President and CEO Hugue Meloche.

INCLUSIVE SUCCESSION PLANNING | Entrevue avec Jamie

In Québec, the aerospace industry will need to fill more than 38,000 positions over the next 10 years. Members of the aerospace industry recognize that equity, diversity and inclusion must be at the heart of their development strategies. If our industry’s workforce is to fulfil its potential and achieve great things, we must promote inclusive workplaces.

Aéro Montréal is pleased to provide an inspiring testimony designed to raise awareness about this issue, as the aerospace industry still has a fairly homogeneous heritage. This homogeneity creates a norm of reference, a standard that can give the impression that you’re not welcome if you deviate from the typical profile. Although there are over-represented profiles in aerospace, there are also many people from diverse backgrounds working in the industry, and have been for years. In the spirit of embodying diversity, Jamie agreed to share their experiences as a non-binary person working in the industry.

Quick facts about the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec’s guidelines on consent under Bill 25 with Imran Ahmad, Partner, Canadian Head of Technology and Canadian Co-Head of Information Governance, Privacy and Cybersecurity, and Roxanne Caron, Associate, at Norton Rose Fulbright

The first phase of the Act to modernize legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information, also known as Bill 25, came into effect in Quebec on September 22, 2022. The purpose of the act is to implement an ambitious reform of the legislative framework governing privacy protection.

In this short video of less than 5 minutes, Imran Ahmad and his colleague, Roxanne Caron, discuss the draft guidelines on the criteria for valid consent (personal information) published by the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec. As of September 22, 2023, organizations will have to ensure compliance with these criteria when obtaining consent from individuals, particularly when communicating their personal information.

TCJ GROUP ACQUIRES IMMETIS

Therrien Couture Joli-Coeur and Groupe TCJ announced the acquisition of Immetis Legal Services, a leader in business immigration and international mobility in Quebec. Immetis, which is also a member of Aéro Montréal, will continue all of its activities under the same name, as an independent subsidiary and Natacha Mignon will remain Chief Executive Officer.

The addition of the Immetis team to the TCJ family will benefit the clients of both firms, who will be able to benefit from value-added strategic services.
