We want to hear from business and community members on vital projects that will enhance the heart of our community—our downtown!
The Downtown’s Next Chapter initiative includes three projects that we will be asking for your feedback on over the course of this year: Our Plan for Downtown, Unique Main Street and Picture Our Parks. Together these projects support the Town’s vision of elevating our downtown into a thriving gathering space that supports local businesses, fosters community pride and promotes economic growth. We are working on these major downtown projects to create improved viability for businesses, economic growth, place making and accessibility.
Community engagement is an essential part of this process. The Town is dedicated to keeping business and community members well-informed through online information and providing opportunities to provide feedback and ask questions. The first open house will provide information on the Our Plan for Downtown and Picture Our Parks projects and ask for feedback on progress so far.
Save-the-date, join us and share your ideas on these projects:

Enhancing the streetscape of main street (Elizabeth, McRae & North Railway Streets) is also part of the downtown improvement project. Design concepts are being worked on and will be shared with the community in the coming months. Community engagement on design elements will be coming later this year. Also this year, the Daggett Street parking area along the CPKC rail tracks, will be paved to increase parking capacity by approximately 70 stalls. The project will also pilot reverse angle parking to improve safety.
Throughout all project planning, design and construction, we will update project details, upcoming timelines and events on the Town’s dedicated project website. Please check back regularly for the latest information and resources.
