Discover the Accomplishments of Our Services!

Would you like to learn more about the accomplishments and priorities of the Town’s various departments?

You can now consult the new Monthly Summary of Services.

This report highlights key developments from the previous month and provides an overview of municipal activities.

Published at the same time as the Council meeting minutes and presented during public Council meetings, it is a helpful way to stay informed about what’s happening in the community.

Changes to Sûreté du Québec Phone Numbers

The Sûreté du Québec will begin the gradual phase-out of the 310-4141 and *4141 phone numbers.

These lines, still used by some residents, rely on technology that has become outdated. They can no longer adequately meet current requirements, particularly with respect to identifying and locating callers in an emergency.

With the evolution of communication systems, 9-1-1 now provides broader, more effective coverage.

Emergency calls will therefore be centralized through 9-1-1 centres, while non-urgent calls will be directed to local Sûreté du Québec detachments.

What this means for you:

In an emergency, always dial 9-1-1.

For any non-urgent situation, it is recommended that you contact the Brome-Missisquoi MRC Sûreté du Québec detachment directly at 450-266-1122.

This transition aims to improve the speed and effectiveness of responses and ensure everyone’s safety.

More Details on the Fulford Road Reconstruction Project

The Town of Brome Lake will be carrying out the full reconstruction of Fulford Road, along its entire 7.5 km length.

This major project, valued at approximately $6.6 million and supported by a $1.8 million grant, also includes the addition of bicycle lanes on both sides of the roadway to improve safety and encourage active transportation.

The work will take place from June to October and will be divided into two phases:

  • Phase 1: from Bondville Road to Davis Road
  • Phase 2: from Davis Road to Brome Road

Fulford Road will be fully closed to through traffic for the duration of the work, except for local traffic (residents and property access).

A detour route will be put in place and clearly signposted to guide road users throughout both phases of the project.

We invite you to follow our various communication channels to stay informed throughout the course of this work.

Spring Flushing of the Water Distribution System Will Begin Soon

Starting May 20, the Town of Brome Lake will carry out the annual spring flushing of the water distribution system.

The work will begin in the Knowlton sector before continuing in the Bondville sector.

This preventive maintenance operation is essential to maintain drinking water quality and ensure the proper functioning of the water distribution system.

During the flushing operation, residents may notice slight water discoloration or a temporary drop in water pressure.

It is recommended that you turn on your cold-water tap and let it run until the water becomes clear again.

Important: this is not a boil water advisory. Water discoloration in no way affects its compliance with drinking water standards.

Our Firefighters in Training

On May 6, the firefighters from Brome Lake were on the hiking trail located between Victoria Street and the Knowlton Golf Course for their monthly training exercise.

This session allowed them to practice various search and rescue techniques in trail and forest environments, notably using ATVs and specialized location equipment.

Thank you all for your continued commitment to improving your skills!

Renewal of Stickers: Possible Delays Expected

Delays in processing boat sticker renewals may currently be observed.

To improve the situation, additional staff has been added for the summer season, and processing of applications is expected to speed up in the coming days.

In the meantime, citizens may provide proof of their application by printing the confirmation email they received.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Tree Distribution During Family Fun Day

Every year, Arbor Month and Forests highlights the importance of preserving and showcasing this natural resource, which is essential to the quality of our living environments.

Under the theme “I choose wood!”, the 2026 edition spotlights the many benefits of wood, a renewable, durable material at the heart of our communities.

The Town of Brome Lake invites residents to pick up a tree at the distribution being held on May 31, as part of Family Day festivities.

Several species will be offered free of charge, while supplies last:

  • Sugar maple
  • White spruce
  • White pine
  • Red pine

Planting a tree helps improve air quality, support biodiversity and enhance the beauty of our community.

Consult Hydro-Québec’s guide to learn about the minimum clearance distances to follow when planting a tree near power lines.

Take Action for Pollinating Insects!

The Town of Brome Lake invites you to take part in the “No Mow May” initiative.

This simple gesture involves delaying mowing your lawn to allow dandelions to bloom, a valuable source of nectar and pollen for bees.

By providing this food in spring, you help support bees and other pollinating insects in their essential role. Their work directly contributes to the production of a large portion of the food we eat.

We encourage you to keep dandelions as long as they are in bloom, then mow your lawn once they have faded.

The Rain Garden Financial Assistance Program Renewed

Did you know that a rain garden is both a practical and beautiful landscaping feature?

In addition to helping absorb stormwater runoff and creating biodiversity, it transforms your yard into a vibrant flower bed that enhances your property.

Since 2024, several Brome Lake residents have discovered how to combine environmental benefits and aesthetics by creating their own rain gardens.

You can also view photos of these beautiful projects on our website.

Good news: the rain garden grant program is back! The Town reimburses 50% of the costs, up to $1,250, for the installation of a rain garden on residential and commercial properties. It’s the perfect opportunity to create a landscape feature that benefits both the environment and the beauty of your property!

To learn more about the program, visit our website. For questions or to register, contact our environmental team at environnement@lacbrome.ca.

Looking for inspiration? Visit the rain garden created by the Town at Douglass Beach — an excellent example of what you can create!

A subsidy program for rain barrels will also be launched soon. Stay tuned!
