Happening today and tomorrow: Career Fair! 💼 

Come meet potential employers during Career Fair. Happening in the EME foyer between 11 am and 3 pm on March 6 and 7. Different employers will be present on each day, so be sure to check out both. There will be prizes to win, and you can get a professional headshot taken for free.

You'll have the opportunity to make valuable connections and meet local employers from a diverse range of industries such as agriculture, financial consulting, social services, energy, education, innovation technology, and much more!

Whether you’re looking to make the next step in your career path or just want to explore job opportunities, all UBCO students are welcome to attend. Available positions include part-time, full-time, seasonal, and co-op roles.

March 7: Let's choose to reuse – a pop-up ☕️ 

Hosted by the UBC Okanagan Sustainability Office, discover actions to support the transition to a zero-waste community, understand proper waste organization in "Sort It Out," and have the opportunity to win reusable prizes.

Don't forget to bring your reusable cup for a complimentary coffee or hot chocolate and enjoy a waste-free experience.

March 12: Teach-in on Climate and Justice ♻️ 

Join us at the third UBC Okanagan Teach-In on Climate and Justice at the Sunshine Café on March 12 from 6 to 8 pm.

What can you expect?

  • An info-fair and networking opportunity for climate/justice research and action
  • Presentations by city and campus planners
  • Table discussions on actioning climate knowledge in the community and on campus
  • Climate-friendly food

This event is part of the Worldwide Teach-In on Climate and Justice taking place in hundreds of locations.

March 21: UBC Southern Medical Program Community Admissions Information Session

The Southern Medical Program is hosting an evening information session for prospective applicants to the UBC Faculty of Medicine’s MD Undergraduate Program. Students will learn about admission requirements, the application process, and how the program is training the next generation of physicians for our province.

The event will be held on Thursday, March 21 from 5:30 to 7 pm in the Reichwald Health Sciences Centre (Room 260).

Presenters include Dr. Shahin Shirzad, Assistant Dean, Admissions, UBC Faculty of Medicine and current Southern Medical Program students. A Zoom link will be provided for those who cannot attend in-person.

Volunteers needed: Earth hour challenge – one hour, no power 💡 

The Sustainability Office is looking for volunteers on March 21 from 12 to 1 pm to help the campus conserve energy by conducting audits and turning off lights in unoccupied spaces.

Celebrating teachers who create healthy and accessible classroom environments 🍎

Nominations are now open for the 2024 Classroom Wellbeing and Accessibility Awards. This event includes the Dr. Claire Budgen Golden Apple Awards and the I am Accessible Award. The highly anticipated award ceremony is student-led and supported by Campus Wellness and the Disability Resource Centre. The awards serve as a beacon of recognition for staff and faculty members who have significantly enhanced students' health and overall wellbeing or supported accessible learning environments and experiences.

Nominations are open until Sunday, March 17. Whether through their support, dedication, or innovative approaches, we want to hear about those who have made a difference in your experience this year!
