New Diversion Community of Practice Launch - Kick-Off Session Registration Now Open

We’re excited to announce the launch of a year-long Diversion Community of Practice (CoP) co-hosted by FirstConnect-Argus Residence (Waterloo Region), the Canadian Shelter Transformation Network (CSTN), and the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness (CAEH). This Community of Practice will bring diversion workers and supervisors together throughout the year to share learning, reflect on practice, and strengthen housing-focused diversion approaches across communities.

The first session will kick off the series and set the foundation for the year ahead. Below you’ll find the topic and details, along with the registration link if you haven’t already signed up.

Topic: Community of Practice Kick Off Session: Back to Basics – Why Diversion Exists (and What It’s Drifted Into)

Session Description: This kickoff session brings diversion workers and supervisors back to the core purpose of diversion - why it exists, how it was originally intended to function, and how practice has shifted over time under system pressures.

Through peer reflection and real-world examples, participants will explore where diversion is working well, where it may be drifting, and how to realign day-to-day practice with its housing-focused, person-centred intent. This interactive session will also help establish shared language, expectations, and learning priorities for the Community of Practice over the year ahead.

We’re excited to welcome Eva Vlasov, Executive Director of Argus Residence, who will be joining us to share their insights.

Date & Time: Wednesday April 22nd, 2026 at 2PM EST

We look forward to kicking off this Community of Practice and learning together with you over the coming year.
