Private wells in a changing climate:
Keeping drinking water safe

This review examines challenges in maintaining safe water quality in private wells and reviews current guidance on reducing hazards and responding to flooding and wildfire events, well testing recommendations, shock chlorination protocols, and barriers and motivators to adoption of well stewardship practices.

Flooding and health impacts: preparedness, response, recovery, and prevention (Updated)

Climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of floods, with disproportionate health impacts on Indigenous Peoples, low‑income households, seniors, people with disabilities, and those living with chronic health conditions. This updated subject guide brings together resources to support environmental health practitioners in preventing, preparing for, responding to, and recovering from the health impacts of flooding across all phases of an event.

Winners of the 2026 NCCPH Knowledge Translation Student Awards

The National Collaborating Centres for Public Health (NCCPH) are pleased to announce the winners of the 2026 NCCPH Knowledge Translation Student Award. This award recognizes the efforts of graduate students at Canadian universities studying public health and using knowledge translation in their research.

Disrupting for healthy and just public green spaces

The National Collaborating Centre for Determinants of Health (NCCDH) has released Season 4, Episode 1 of its Mind the Disruption podcast, “Disrupting for Healthy and Just Public Green Spaces.” Listen now on the NCCDH website or your preferred podcast platform.

Adaptation in Action: Implementation projects

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities through the Green Municipal Fund is supporting climate adaptation projects.

Adaptation in Action: Implementation Projects offers up to $1 million to implement on-the-ground projects that reduce climate risks, strengthen infrastructure and support vulnerable residents. Whether you are installing flood defenses or making upgrades to municipal buildings to withstand extreme heat, this funding helps safeguard essential services and ensure local infrastructure is built to last.

Informing the future of population and public health research in Canada

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Population and Public Health (IPPH) hosts virtual and in-person engagement sessions to gather input from the public health community across Canada.
