Town Hall  — come share your priorities with council on June 16

The Municipality of Crowsnest Pass is hosting its first 2026 Town Hall session on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Crowsnest Community Hall, 2025 129 Street, Blairmore. Everyone is welcome.

What we heard from you

In January, 448 residents completed our community survey. Five themes came through clearly: the need for a long-term economic vision, more transparency in how decisions get made, housing and development, consistent bylaw enforcement, and better infrastructure and roads.

Council has heard you. Now they want to dig deeper — in person.

How the Focus Groups will work

You will be seated at a small focus group table with a council member and 5 to 6 neighbours. Your group chooses its own recorder and spokesperson. Together, you will brainstorm what you appreciate most about Crowsnest Pass and what you most want to change. Then you narrow your ideas down to a top 5 for each question, with staff helping to make each answer specific and useful for council. At the end of the evening, all answers go on the wall and you vote with dot stickers on the priorities that matter most to you.

Results will be compiled and shared publicly after the event.

A second Town Hall is planned for fall 2026 — date and location to be confirmed. Watch crowsnestpass.com and our social channels for updates.

Tuesday, June 16, 2026 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Crowsnest Community Hall 2025 129 Street, Blairmore

June safety & enforcement focus

Traffic safety spotlight

Commercial vehicle safety

Summer construction season is picking up. That means more large trucks, equipment haulers, and commercial vehicles sharing our roads. Knowing how to drive safely around them can prevent serious crashes.

🚛 Give trucks more space. Large vehicles need more room to brake, turn, and maneuver. Don't cut in front of them, and avoid lingering in their blind spots — if you can't see the driver's mirrors, they can't see you.

🚧 Merge early, not at the last second. When you see a lane closure ahead, move over in good time. Late merges create dangerous situations for everyone, including transport drivers who can't stop quickly.

⚠️ Watch for wide loads and slow-moving equipment. On highways and rural roads, oversized loads can take up more than one lane. Slow down, stay back, and pass only when it's safe and legal to do so.

Commercial drivers have responsibilities too — proper load securement, vehicle maintenance, and hours-of-service rules all protect everyone on the road. If you see an unsecured load or unsafe vehicle, you can report it to Alberta Transportation at 310-0000.

Safe roads are a shared responsibility. Drive with patience and awareness around commercial vehicles this season.

Bylaw focus — yard maintenance 🌿

Summer is here and lawns are growing fast. Keeping your yard tidy is a Community Standards requirement — and it makes a real difference in how our community looks and feels.

Long grass and weeds

  • Grass must be kept below 15 cm
  • Clear weeds from your yard, including along fences and property edges
  • Overgrown yards create habitat for mosquitoes and other pests

This applies to all properties, including vacant lots. If you're away for part of the summer, make arrangements to have your lawn maintained.

A first offence for non-compliance with Section 5.2 of the Community Standards Bylaw (Bylaw 1045, 2020) can result in a $300 penalty.

Got a question or concern about a property in your neighbourhood? Contact us at 403-562-8833 or reception@crowsnestpass.com.
