FNLMAQL welcomes Analisa Wong

We’re excited to introduce our newest team member: Analisa Wong as Program Administrative Support!

Analisa has a background in Political Science with experience in operations, administration, and program support. She’s supported scientific researchers transitioning from academia to entrepreneurship across Quebec and coordinated non-profit programs for Black youth in Montreal’s West Island. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, thrifting, creative home projects, podcasting from her closet, and dreaming up her next adventure.

Welcome Analisa! You’ll be able to meet her in-person this fall at our Annual Membership Meeting in Mashteuiatsh and at the NALMA National Gathering in Halifax.

PLMCP Level II: French Cohort

September 2025 will mark the launch of the French-language delivery of the Professional Lands Management Certification Program (PLMCP) Level II!

The FNLMAQL is working closely with NALMA to support the delivery of this technical training, designed to equip French-speaking lands managers with a deeper understanding of reserve lands in Quebec and the skills needed to manage their community territory effectively and efficiently.

Last month, we relaunched our Tools & Equipment Funding Program. This is an opportunity to upgrade your current tools or purchase new equipment to better support your land management department. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis—so don’t wait!

NALMA is hosting the 13th National Lands Managers Gathering from October 21 to October 23, 2025, in Halifax, NS.

Celebrate the newest Professional Lands Management Certification Program (PLMCP) graduates and connect with members from other Regional Lands Associations (RLAs)!

Book your hotel accommodations at the Sutton Place Hotel Halifax before September 21, 2025, to take advantage of the group discount.

Indigenous Leadership Fund for Biodiversity Conservation

The First Nations of Québec and Labrador Sustainable Development Institute (FNQLSDI) has announced the official launch of the first call for projects under the Indigenous Leadership Fund for Biodiversity Conservation.

This call is open to First Nations wishing to carry out biodiversity conservation initiatives aligned with the targets of the provincial government's 2030 Nature Plan.

Projects may address a variety of themes, including:

  • The promotion of First Nations knowledge, practices, and uses related to biodiversity conservation
  • The development of First Nations knowledge and capacity in biodiversity conservation
  • The creation of protected areas or other conservation initiatives under First Nations leadership

Project submission deadline: September 5, 2025

Selected projects will receive financial support and, if needed, personalized guidance throughout their implementation. To consult the eligibility criteria, submission guidelines, and project application form, visit their website:

AFOA Canada Emergency Preparedness and Management Needs Assessment Survey

AFOA Canada is conducting a needs assessment to understand the emergency preparedness and management training requirements of Indigenous communities across Canada. Your insights will help the AFOA develop relevant training programs, resources, and support systems that address the unique needs of Indigenous communities.

Participants have a chance to win one of three prizes for their feedback. This survey should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete.
